I agree, I have been a die hard fan since 88' and I love this album for what it is, still good music. I prefer the heavier Megadeth, but this album is musically very good and show cases how talented Dave's song writing became. I love that he went back to heavy, but I still love this album.

it took me awhile to listen to this whole album and i actually think its great! megadeth is undefined as far as their style goes and this album is another chapter in their music. this one has a lot of friedman in it, he wanted a lighter style and the music still is awesome, but different.

Risk isn't a bad album, it's different. Hence the name "Risk". I think it's an essential part of Megadeth discography - basically every other album Megadeth has ever made from the first to the so far last is just kick-ass, and this one is the daring venture into something new and experimental. It may not be the toughest thrash album ever, but it's a good piece of music nevertheless.

this song is actually a pretty badass tune in my opinion, sure its more of a hard rock tempo then heavy metal, but its still plenty fast paced ass kickin to me. I think that risk was actually an ok cd, for what reason ppl shit on it i do not know. So what if its not unrealistically fast like holy wars or tornado of souls, they were just experimenting with a different sound exploring there diversity as a band like anyone else.

Marty is kinda right though... When your band name is MEGADETH, you're expected to be balls to the wall metal. I never heard of Marty wanting to turn Megadeth commercial; just himself. I can understand him getting tired of playing that type of music because if you go back and listen to Cacophony, Marty belongs in the neoclassical metal genre, not HEAVY heavy metal. He's a melodic virtuoso.

I think it's funny though, that everybody gives Dave so much credit for this album. Everybody either says they hate it, and when they say they like it, it was all DAVE? Dave didn't want to go into this different direction, Marty Friedman wanted to, and this is the album that he's got most of the writing credits on (Probably still less than Dave though, go figure.)
