ratter531 from what I understand he had a nasty case of gangrene. That can happen from infection, diabetes or just loss of circulation. It's possible to injure yourself in a car accident and that injury lead to gangrene. My dad just recently damn near lost his leg because of it

Well, I heard this story too, and then I asked my friends who played with him from 2000-2002, and recorded the EP, A Gathering Of Demons, and they all said that he put that story out in the media, but that he really died from gangrene, from heroin use/injections. Sad.

I was at this show!! I was kind of an acquaintance of Kurdt at one point. I lived in Hoquiam Wa. for 1 year in 1980 and he was from near by. I was in high school algebra with one of Metal Church's bass players at one point as well. Duke Erickson. So I kind of followed the band from the beginning. It's kind of neat to see the old KISW 100 logo when digital radio tuners weren't that popular. They've been KISW 99.9 for ever now.

It's so weird to here such a low quality video, when in fact this band was SO unbelievably epic when Wayne was the singer (i respect the new comers efforts ... but...). When i first heard Metal Church, it was after "Kill"em All" by Metallica. I loved Metallica back in those days, but when i heard DW's voice and the musical composition, i was like: "wholly fucking shit, is this singer from this planet"!??? He redefined the voice of Metal above ALL predecessor's who came before his him.

@metalheart4u9 well, as you can imagine, the songs where written before the record was released. therefore it's well possible that they where played live also before the release. especially since the LP Metal Church was their debut. No band released the songs on a record without playing them or some live before the release. Back then liveshows where also one of 2 possibilities to make yourself a name. the other one where demos.
