Thank you for posting this. I've been trying to solve a water pressure issue and then found your video. Problem solved by following your advice.

@@mrsblight7202 That's good.. The remaking of the air gap is something an owner or user can do to their Megaflo... Anything else, requires a qualified plumber and I mean qualified to mess with Megaflos because they can be dangerous but remaking the air gap is something we can and should do.. Thanks for watching and commenting

Thanks for the comment.. I'm glad you enjoyed it.. I'm not a plumber but we are allowed to do this as basic maintenance as long as there's nothing else wrong.. I make videos about anything I can think of, jokes, cars, garden equipment etc but recently I've been making videos about a Bentley.. Cheers @ron2256

Most plumbers know nothing about the megaflo. I asked so many because was unsure how to repressurise. Thanks for the simple explanation. Easy once you know how.

Thanks.. I just do what it says on the dide of the megaflo or in the instruction book.. Once you have done it once, it isn't so scary for the next time.. Glad it helped, my videos are often quite long and drawn out but I like to think they are more understandable.. Check out my other videos. I do jokes, cars, planes, trams, keyboards, smoke detectors, garden equipment, anything I can think of really.. Best Wishes

Spot on and the hot water pressure is as bright as a button. Nice one, thank you 👊

Glad it helped.. The airgap gradually disappears over a few months to a year.. There should be a sticker on the side saying to do what I did, it is normal maintenance that the owner can do. Anything else, don't mess with them, call a plumber qualified to fix them.. Mine is 22 years old and has only ever needed this remaking of the airgap. Apparently they can get scale from hard water but my house has a water softener so it doesn't get scaled up.. The water pressure and flow rate in the shower is amazing.. I asked my plumber if it needed servicing and he said just keep the airgap and it should be fine.

Can you fo this if tank is on the ground floor? Also what if no water goes down the thundish but there is glughing noise ?
@ron2256Ай бұрын
@@pali2824 I don't know but I would think you can because the water escapes through the nearest tap that is turned on.. I'm not a plumber, just a user but I've had this Megaflos for 24 years and it's all its ever needed. If in doubt, get a plumber but this is something you are supposed to do yourself.. I think the water going into the tundish when the system is active, is a sign it needs doing but I don't think it drips during this procedure

Hi Ron, great video. We have one of these water heaters. the CL145. Do you know how to change the pressure? We are a family of 4 and our water bill has gone through the roof (consumption, not just price) so I would like to turn the pressure down a bit if I can to help make showers more economical. Thanks :-)

Thanks for watching.. no, I have no idea, it's best not messed with unless you are qualified.. what I showed on the video is just owner maintenance. I am not a plumber, I just happen to have the Megaflo in the house.. The house was new when we moved in 23 years ago. Sorry can't help but seriously, don't mess with it's pressure or flow rate

Hi Ron, thanks for the video! I bought a house 3 years ago and always had issues with the HW from the boiler heating the immersion heater. So I’ve been using the heating element all of this time. When you turn your HW on, do you also need to have the CH on too? Thanks again!

I'm not a plumber but I've lived in this house with the megaflo for 22 years. I've got a Vaillent boiler downstairs and the Megaflo upstairs.. I never use electricity to heat the Megaflo although it does have an element. I have a timer next to the boiler and I can choose just hot water or just heating or both together.. If I have the boiler on just hot water for an hour everyday, in the summer, it lasts all day unless I fill the bath or something. So, no, I don't have to have the heating on.. But in the winter it is on anyway.. This system was put in the house from new, I haven't changed it in anyway, I don't have any smart thermostats or anything, I just have a proper wired stat in the hall and thermostatic valves on the radiators.. It all works very well and always has. The pressure and flow rate on the shower is amazing,.no need for any extra pumps. If I notice the pressure going down a bit, I remake the air gap, probably do it about every 6 months, it's just maintenance that the householder can do and the instruction should be printed on the side of the Megaflo but if there is any doubt, call a plumber, these mains pressure systems can be dangerous if not installed or maintained properly.. I have a water softener so mine doesn't scale up but they can.. But I love it much more than a combi boiler but I suppose it might be a bit more expensive to run but the advantages, like the pressure and flow and it gives me an airing cupboard, outway having a combi, in my opinion.

Thank you Sir, it is useful. I am wondering do you know what to do if megaflow stop produced hot water?
@ron2256 Жыл бұрын
No, I don't know.. it must be the source of heat, either your boiler or immersion heater not working, however you heat your water.. if you are getting cold water from your hot water tap, it's not really likely to be the megaflo's fault..

Great video. My MEGAflo started make hammer noise whenever we use the hot water! any idea what the cause might be?
@ron22562 жыл бұрын
Thanks.. No, I'm sorry, I don't know. Have you remade the air gap.. Do you know if the knock is on the hot pipe or the cold water feed.. You probably should get a plumber who is experienced with mains pressure systems to have a look.. These things can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing..

@@ron2256 plumber told me I need a new cylinder at a cost of £1500!!! would a used cylinder do the job?
@ron22562 жыл бұрын
@@zenganow I have no idea but make sure that the plumber you use is qualified to work on Megaflos.. I’m not a plumber, I was only doing maintenance that as a user, I’m allowed to do. These mains pressure systems can blow up if someone unqualified messes with them.

@@ron2256 I have the same of model of cylinder in my property. It was probably installed around 2000 - 2001. Any ideas about the life span of these tanks? I'm getting a new boiler and my builder had advised me to replace the cylinder at the sane time.
@ron2256 Жыл бұрын
@@nayanpatel5304 I don't know.. Mine was installed in 2000 and I'm not thinking of replacing it but I'm not thinking of replacing the boiler either. It's a Vallient, you can see it in the video, I think.. The guy who services my boiler always jokingly tries to wind me up by saying, I could put you a nice little combi in there🤣. I think I read that in a domestic situation, assuming well maintained, Megaflo has lifetime warranty, whatever that means or 30 years in a commercial site but I don't know what regular maintenance means, I just maintain the air gap and my house has a water softener so there shouldn't be any scale in there
