The movie purposefully surreal. It uses a lot of silent film techniques with montage and really awesome to be pulling fun performances out as glue. People aren’t meeting the movie where it’s at and trying to engage with it.

I did not watch a single trailer and did not read a single review before watching the movie. I genuinely wanted to enjoy it and tried my very best to receive it the way Coppola wanted people to, but it was just so incoherent and poorly made that I could not engage at all. Every 60 seconds there was something taking me out of the experience, whether it was bad CGI, confusing jump cuts, bizarre shot choices, or just terrible acting. I can respect the vision and what he was going for, and I really appreciate the messages, but it was just too difficult to enjoy even when genuinely trying to.

I wrote this movie off because Francis Ford Coppola is a bad person. Definitely has been resting on his laurels for the past 30 years and I think this will be the final push people will need to see that he has most certainly lost that magic.
