The part that pisses me off the most is i just know it's going to get academy award nomination, not because of its exceptional quality, but just because its francis ford copola, and they just love patting him and their inner circle on the back. Plus i bet whatever money he's got left is gonna be used to buy his way in. Because that's all these useless awards care about. Money and facades, not any actual quality of art.

Francis Ford Floppola's Megaflopolis: the messy, overstuffed and aggressively indulgent fable that made Beau is Afraid look like Marvel movies.
@nickmoney
@nickmoney 3 сағат бұрын
In 1992, he self financed One From the Heart for 29 million (92 million today) and that bombed hard to such an extreme he had to file for bankruptcy for the THIRD TIME! That's why he did so much for 20 years that was "below him". After every studio declined for 30 years, maybe just maybe he should have accepted it. There was unproduced and unreleased Bob Dylan songs discovered and people hated it, but remember it wasn't released for a reason and MegaFlopulus should have been the same, just a what if never seen.

Regarding why Cesar doesn’t just stop time and make everything go his way, it’s most likely that he is trying to still play by some semblance of “the rules.” Coppola is really digging deep into a number of films from the cinemas that put concept and ideas over a general narrative. There may be a hint in Cesar’s talk of “we are in need of a great debate about the future.” The idea that a lot of people are talking, but most of humanity is focused on what they can grasp in the present, whereas opening up the mind to consider the future is not something many will do.

It sounds like Shia was Caligula, the emperor who 'married' his sister, his horse, and did lots of other crazy things. Cicero was a famous philosopher, orator, and statesman. You can see the bones of what Coppola was trying for, but this sounds like it would have worked better as a tv series where the characters had to be developed.
