I spent one month summer vacation in Highways in 1970. I was 13 years old. My most memorable childhood. Thanks for bringing back my childhood days. I am settled in Australia and will not have chance to see this paradise. My mother worked as Headmistress of Highways High School for two years. I worked as Windows cleaner in Highways tea factory part time .

In 1977, on my journey to வெள்ளிமலை, I first saw Megamalai. Near Maharajamettu, we saw rail track engaged for upper suruli dam construction. Recently when I visited m .mettu, I saw the completed dam. From there the cumbum valley could be seen. A peaceful and beautiful place. Now at that the old road for வெள்ளிமலை has been closed. A separate road from குமணன் தொழு has been built.

Useful info! JFYI; If you are visiting Meghamalai, Suruli falls or any other tourist attraction near Chinnamanur in Theni and in group (more than 10 people), then this party hall (Laxmi Mahal) would be a good place to stay as it provides a clean budget accommodation better than a lodge and has only basic amenities. Cost of the stay is reasonable compared to hotels or lodges in Chinnamanur. If you travel in a Tour operated Van, then this can be reached from bypass road. Call and book early as this is a party hall hosting bulk group stay on reservation only.
