By now it's a Metalltool tradition to release a track on Christmas, so there you go! I hope you enjoy this and if it sounds overproduced that's because it actually is :)
I had a lot of fun with this and tried something different by using 80's and 90's drum machines, as I felt it would fit the Megaman Classic franchise.
The counter melodies in this track (well Megaman 5 in general) are insane and the original bass line, though really fun to play on bass guitar, was transposed one octave down and eventually swapped out with synth bass.
This track of course is a tribute to the beatiful Megaman 5 soundtrack, which has been composed by Mari Yamaguchi.

For some reason there are rumours that the Wily Stage theme has actually been composed by Yoko Shimomura, but I couldn't find any reliable proof for that.
I'll be returning to Megaman 5 of course as I like many of the tracks.
Megaman 5 was the last NES game my parents bought me back in the day and here in Germany we didn't get Megaman 6, so it holds a deep spot in my heart. I'm glad I could finally get to this piece.

I know i say it everytime but you are the king when it comes to megaman covers. Your blend of adding your own flair while still keeping true to the original themes is legendary. I'd kill to hear you do a cover and add your unique touch to shade man or toxic sea horse's theme.

Metalltool might be the best KZbin Mega Man coverist that I've heard (I've listened SO MANY MM covers on KZbin). You could easily do remasters of all the Mega Man songs and I would play them again just to hear your versions of the (remastered) songs. 🎶

This was always one of my favorite wily stage themes, and this cover absolutely does it justice. I always loved all the little melodic flourishes throughout the piece, and I always got the impression that it's a very melancholic piece, which they tended to do with these later games.

It's in the work, but tbh I much prefer the SNES OST. But I usually always implement a bit of the ps1 versions in my arrangements of X3 anyway.
