I love how most the theme tried to give it a Little context of his role in each game: X1: Evil leader theme X4: pretty Shaddy theme implied he was the Evil mastermind and the manipulator X5: Literally it's Sigma's last stand theme one final Titanic Battle against him like was supposed to be originally X6: A Shadow of his former self that is only driven by his instincts of revenge, almost a crazy animal who needs to be killed by mercy X7: A epic theme, this time he Is back in full of his capabilities and you know that at this point he will never give up not matter what X8: A last stand theme again but most passive, almost nostálgic, indicative that he is not the true mastermind this time and probably his last appearance in the series

X5 has my favorite themes hands down X1 portrays Sigma as this overwhelming enemy, after a very frenetic music we have a more desperate piece, X is fighting his toughest battle yet That's not the case for the following 3 titles. X already knows Sigma and the music is always like "You need to beat him quickly so you can go back home safely". But not in X5 Sigma is incredibly dangerous in X5, because of him Eurasia has no humans left and the Earth is always in a bad shape. He also forced X and Zero to fight, the music really captures the emotion of rage that the reploid you chose has. And then... The second phase. Sigma is at its most horrifying, a massive abomination. The ost is apocalyptic and it feels like the heroes won't survive... And that's true, one of them has to die.

IMO, X3 was the last Mega Man X game where Sigma thought he could beat X in a straight 1v1 fight. The Ultimate Battle Body he thought for sure would be enough to make quick work of him, but the second that the body was destroyed, he came to the horrifying realization that no matter what, X was ultimately a lot stronger and that he would never beat him in a fair fight, so he decided to possess him, and his program got mostly wiped out from the anti-sigma virus program Doppler gave Zero or that Doppler straight up used on him. He managed to survive, my guess with like 10-15% of his program intact, and so he decided to bide his time until he could recover to full strength. His whole outlook on X and Zero changed that day, though. In X1 he had no doubts he would beat X. Although a little taken aback by his defeat, 6 months later he used the X Hunters, who were probably always around and served as a backup just in case he failed the first time, to rebuild him a new body and rebuild Zero to fight for him. He thought X was a mettlesome insect. Defeated again, he bided his time for a few years til he could corrupt Doppler, but after that, he was like "I can't win against X." This is why he waited years, probably a couple decades, until Repliforce was in power, and this time he simply planned to destroy repliforce to weaken the world's defenses against Mavericks, he destroys an entire city at the beginning of X4, and aims a space weapon at Earth. Also notice how in X4 and 5 when he loses, he laughs in X's face before dying again, b/c he doesn't give a fuck about destroying X anymore. His goal now has changed to causing X as much pain and grief as possible, corrupting Zero, and destroying Earth, so even if X beats him, he still loses. In X5, he puts his full plan into motion, and expends most of his virus, spreading it across the world, corrupting like 90% of reploids in the process, and flat out hurls a space station into earth that's also full of Zero Virus in a bid to corrupt Zero, turning X's best friend against him and taking everything from X. Again, even though he loses, he still wins ultimately. The weapon makes some impact, forcing much of humanity underground, corrupting most reploids, and creating a mess that'll take like 100 years on the short end to fully clean up. If X5 is the last game in your head-canon, he succeeds in destroying Zero for good, corrupting most reploids on the planet, and nearly causing humanity to go extinct. Even with the body he has in X5, he doesn't give a fuck when X destroys it. He just goes "Hahahahaha. Good bye, X!" because it's all about playing 4D chess with him and making him suffer as much as possible as opposed to flat out destroying him. He's much more dangerous in X4 and beyond than in X1-X3. X1-X3, his goal is to destroy X and Zero and rule the world. In X4 and beyond, it's to cause as much trouble as possible. If he does win somehow it's just icing on the cake, but his main goal is to cause trouble and cause X pain. That's why I love Sigma's Arc so much. It goes a lot deeper than a lot of people know. For me personally, X6 is the last game in my head-canon, in spite of the whole stupid "I hid myself so I could repair myself" Zero line to explain his return. This is the end for me, b/c it shows what Sigma has become, a mindless shell of his former self. And with Zero around, there's a suitable explanation for the Z Series and Elf Wars to exist. But IMO, in the end, Sigma does truly win, b/c of the damage he caused. The reason I hate the games beyond X6, is that it undoes that arc of Sigma's, and in X8, they even have a dumbass throw-away line that says "Oh he died on the Moon in space so his Virus can never come back." but in X4 he also died in space, on a space station that exploded mind you, meaning his virus was in the vacuum of space by that logic and he still returned in X5, so why can't he return when dying on the moon? That's my take on everything. I love Sigma's arc. When you think about it like this, everything starts to make a lot more sense.
