Armored Armadillo was always my favorite theme on this game, its so freaking jazzy and catchy and makes me wanna move around when i hear it

8. Boomer Kuwanger - It has this spy theme in there but, it doesn't fit for me. 7. Armored Armadillo - Even though it's this low, it's still a great song. This for some reason sounds like something from DK Country, probably because of the mine carts and the cave. 6. Chill Penguin - This theme is good it even combines despair and also happiness! 5. Flame Mammoth - This is epic and sad. It is awesome. 4. Launch Octopus - Man this was a surprise! None of us thought that Launch Octopus would have vibraphones and a powerful explosive bass! 3. Spark Mandrill - His tempo is right on combining epicness and sorrow! 2. Storm Eagle - We all know why we love this song. 1. Sting Chameleon - It just sounds sad, epic, mysterious and it's my favorite Mega Man X theme of all time!

Fighting the Maverick (Boss Theme): OMFG, dat BASS line! Chill Penguing: Is chill, I like it. Flame Mammoth: Underrated GEM, one of my favorites. Sting Chamaleon: Nicely pieced together. Storm Eagle: Rocks like no other. Armored Armadillo: Get's me going, I like it. Launch Octopus: Dat bass is great, the song not one of my favorites but it delivers. Boomer Kuwanger: Great Spark Mandrill: Sick, completely sick drums & bass. Best one IMHO. Zero: OOOOOH YEAH! Here comes the PAIN! Personally, this is one of my favorites of all time, I recently rediscovered the game after not playing it for a decade or so, and it just blew my mind. It's even better than I remember.

Everything just works and matches the factory theme Sting Chameleon: A nice theme for a nice stage Storm Eagle: Top 3 Maverick Theme from X1. Makes it sounds like you're soaring through the skies Armored Armadillo: Gives the vibe that you're going for a ride and it works well Launch Octopus: The powerful booms and the jingle give the underwater battle zone vibe Boomer Kuwanger: Top 2: Maverick Theme from X1. Such an amazing theme. The instruments here all compliment each other very well and give the sense you're climbing a cold iron tower or dungeon Spark Mandrill: Top 1 Maverick Theme from X1 and possibly my favorite in the series. It's really hard for me to rank these, since I adore them all, but I'll certainly give it a try. 8. Chill Penguin: Putting this one down here feels so cruel with how many memories it brings back, but it just sticks out to me the least and doesn't really fit the snow/ice theme very well. 7. Launch Octopus: Fits underwater very nicely, but I feel it lacks the catchiness of the other themes. 6. Armored Armadillo: Extremely catchy, very fitting for the fun cart sections. :D 5. Spark Mandrill: Nobody's gonna like this, but his theme has never really stuck out to me like it does for everyone else. It's very fast paced and fits a power plant, and I love those drums, but I just have four themes I enjoy more. 4. Boomer Kuwanger: Once again, very fitting. Slow, but I love the melody, especially for the outdoor sections. 3. Storm Eagle: Legendary, and for good reason. A bit repetitive, but it continues this game's tradition of being very fitting and catchy. 2. Sting Chameleon: I admit, I am biased. This was the first MMX track I ever heard, and it has a special place in my heart as a result. 1. Flame Mammoth: I will never get sick of that beginning. Like Storm Eagle, this one is a bit repetitive, but it's so awesome to bang my head to that I just don't care.

Okay okay. Yeah, I have another comment somewhere down there but that isn't the point. I'm back to give my annual best to worst songs in MMX. Let me get this out of the way, this OST is freaking epic and there is almost literally no way I can place these. 8. Launch Octopus - I was expecting my opinion to change on him. He isn't as lame as I thought back then but he isn't that good in the middle. It was badass in the end though. Sorry dude. You're stuck down here just like I'm stuck as 4th chair in orchestra :D 7. Flame Mammoth - That moment when you forget about this guy. Back when I first heard it, I ignored it but really when you listen through it... Damn... This song is just freaking great considering what they put into it. Not the best of the bunch but it is probably one of the most rocking songs on the list. Too bad it happens to be stuck down here. 6. Armored Armadillo - Never really could place this guy. Some times I like it, others times I just don't care about it. Because of that back and forth placement I just put it here. Anyhow, that solo guitar is amazing like always but I feel as if the opening is very weak. 5. Boomer Kwanger - I keep telling myself I'll get shot for putting my bro Boomer down here but you know what, I can't really keep him up like everyone else does. The song is great, different but in a familiar sense. I like the tune a lot. It feels very heroic, like we're getting ready to end something big (Which fits a DEAL considering his stage is on a tower). Sorry Boomer, you're number 5 4. Chill Penguin - Meh... Not as memorable as he used to be but still an overall great tune with a great style. His song is (pun is kind of intended) chill in fact, like elevator music. Though memorable, it isn't very well balanced and I usually just toss it aside. 3. Spark Mandrill - If you read my previous list then you probably didn't expect this. Well at that time I needed someone to sacrifice so I just threw him in there. Spark Mandrills theme is just pure amazing. The drums are great, the bass as well. However, the guitar (Which I called ear grating once) is probably the show stealer here because... I mean damn... Good job to whoever composed the soundtrack for this game. 2. Storm Eagle - Uh... Heheh... you're probably upset about this one huh... well I have a good excuse. You see, Storm Eagles theme is amazing, one of the best in the games. However, I never really... well something... I DON'T KNOW, SOMETHING ALWAYS DRIVES ME AWAY FROM IT AND TOWARDS THIS... 1. Sting Chameleon - I don't know what is up with this song and why it has become my favorite and just stayed there but I like it here. It has a catchy tune to it and also changes up the normal all around rock we see in this OST. It has a type of grove to it I guess? Anyhow... honorable mentions... 0. Zero - I was too busy with X3's Zero to pay attention but man... really good theme song for Zero. Reappears in Mega Man Zero... and I actually like that one far better. 00. Sigma Stage 1 - Some nostalgia playing with my head but it fits very well for the moment and gives a bit of suspense and tension for that moment. 000. Boss theme - Considering how all MMX boss themes go, this one is an absolute favorite in the community. One of my favorites as well because of how damn catchy it is and its use of instruments. Mega Man X has just an all around fantastic OST. However, next time I poke at X2... one with a smaller base...

I particularly want to point out the Intro Stage, Armored Armadillo, Boomer Kuwanger, Storm Eagle and Sigma Battle One themes as highlights. Correct me if I'm wrong but the small beginning portion of the boss fight theme that we hear in the beginning of this video sounded similar to the stage select theme of Megaman 2. If you don't believe me, listen to the stage select theme of Megaman 2 for a moment then listen to the beiginning portion of the boss fight theme of Megaman X. Theme Ratings (Continued) Boss: Awesome, fast paced fight theme! Probably the best out of all the boss themes in the X Series. My favourite theme from this game actually isn't in this video - it's from the first Sigma Stage. Absolutely EPIC. I like all the themes from this game except Launch Octopus'. Of the eight Mavericks, Storm Eagle had my favourite theme followed by Boomer and Sting C. I could just imagine a concert band playing Armoured Armadillo. :-p That would sound so cool!

John Fontaivo is right. Dr. Wily created Zero to the ultimate robot weapon and to destroy Mega Man X, but Wily activated Zero too early and was injured for it.

I just got my SNES out and beat this game about 2 weeks ago. Just for fun I tried to beat Launch Octopus first and I gave up after two tries. Damn he's hard without Rolling Shield or Boomerang Cutter.
