MAVERICK DATA Subject: Volt Kraken (Squid Adler) Title: Super Electromagnetic Trap Pre-Maverick Status: 6th Naval Unit of the Maverick Hunters Bio: Volt Kraken was once a Maverick Hunter in the 6th Naval Unit who served alongside his friend Launch Octopus. Kraken's Tri-Thunder weapon was developed to be used in research as a remote manipulator for experiments, but he can use it for combat purposes when it is overcharged. During Sigma's first rebellion, he refused to have any part in it, unlike Octopus. When X helped combat Sigma's uprising, he was forced to Octopus, leading to a grudge forming between Kraken and X. Kraken later resigned as a Hunter due to his growing doubts and became a researcher with a peaceful life at an energy engineering facility, far from conflict. He acquired an Energy Cart during this time, which led the Hunters to come to him and ask for it during the Eurasia crisis to help fix the Enigma cannon. While Kraken reluctantly agreed to give it to them, the Sigma Virus immediately infected him and made him violent, swearing to avenge the death of Octopus. Kraken was killed in battle and put to rest.

It’s the second hardest in my opinion. The hardest section of the game to me is the Sigma stage 1 instadeath laser gauntlet if you don’t use the time lock power from the bat dude. With it it’s trivial. If you don’t use it it’s fucking infuriating.

You pretty much have to play it like how a speed runner plays it. Memorize the inputs. That was the only way I could beat it as a kid. I went through it so many times that eventually memorized exactly where to jump, when to boost, and which directional left or right I needed to press at any one time. But I’ll admit I can only do it on an actual PlayStation or Sega Saturn on a CRT. I tried doing it on the Megaman X collection for Switch and I literally can’t do it. I can’t get the input timing down because of the extra latency from the rather shoddy emulation and a LCD tv.

Ah yes, Megaman x5 That is litteraly my number 1 favorite megaman x title, pasting to when i was 8 years old, my dad owned a playstation 1, and i stayed up all the way until 6:00 A.M once trying to beat Cyber Core Maze, i never succeded though, but not anymore i'm 16 now and i beat all of Megaman x5

I like most of X5's levels, but this stage is absolutely horrendous. The first half has way too much trial and error, and the second half is as slow as it is boring. At least Adler's weapon is pretty handy.
