I ran Amazon from the load boards for all of 2020, 2021, and 2022, as an owner/operator. The first two years were fantastic, very light loads with empty return trailers. If there were no empty trailers available you were bobtailed back to your start point. I averaged $10,000 a week gross, between 6,000 to 6,500 net per week. In June 2022 Amazon cut pay rates by over 50%. I was able to finish out the year and payoff my Peterbilt. I pulled local loads for January 2023, and also 13 hour blocks. But due to pay cuts I ran a deficit and stopped pulling loads PERIOD! For ten months my truck has Been parked in my driveway. It is my belief the trucking industry is purposely trying to create a shortage of reliable owner/operators. The plan is to usher in the driverless trucking era! Be safe Manny

I've watched Owner Operators go out of business dealing with strictly Amazon. You have to have a comparison broker(s) Otherwise you won't know your head from your ass. When another broker offers you double than what Amazon offers. Or you're on the block going from yard to yard making a flat rate verses someone on the spot rate doing the same thing. To each his own. Always think like an Owner Operator and not like a Company driver. Amazon is great because they're good at passing the expense/risk on to the clueless. That's just reality. Use them at your benefit not theirs. Good Look. It's a slow death.

hey manny, thank for the insight on the contracts. My dad is an owner operator in Phoenix and he does 37 hr blocks for $1200. I am getting my CDL soon also and want to do 109hr blocks with him as Team. right now its like at $6000 for one block since 109 hrs covers the whole week, so essentially 6000 for the whole week (plus assecorials of course). Whats your opinion on that? are they good numbers? In my opinion, It seems like pretty good numbers, but I wanted a second opinion.
@mannyactual Жыл бұрын
It could work out over 3k each driver per week after fuel that's not bad for today's market. For starting out that's awesome way to learn to Amazon system and youll get enough parking maneuver practice with all the drop and hooks. I would run the team contract with my dad if I could and save up to buy a really good cash truck to get situated. Eventually the rates will explode and better to be ready then not.
