i remember ice being so slept on when lvl 70 was max but in my crafted zafaria gear i was immune to fire and storm with i think 45 overall res, that was also pre pierce stats and i was hitting equal to a medium tier myth attacker. it was a gorgeous time i breezed to warlord in pvp that gen lolll basically spammed overtimes and my pet was an icebird that hit and bladed me, it was a gorgeous gorgeous time

I think no longer has the most health in the game with their school specific gear, that spot is reserved for life (they can get up to 20k health), but the point still stands that power creep REALLY broke pve to the blade (or damage aura) + rank 7 turn 2 ideology we know today. The fact that every school can do it without any repercussions shows the fall from grace pve takes in the fourth arc.

End game Ice can reach the 230s in damage but will have no pierce. And I mean no pierce, like in-the-teens pierce. An Ice with a respectable pierce to damage ratio will be low 210s and less than 40 pierce (barring gear sets). An Ice with a mighty triple double will see the high 190s to low 200s in damage assuming they have a few pierce jewels socketed. An Ice with all damage jewels and a triple double will be in the 220s but have very little crit as a caviat. Anyway you divvy it up, sure, Ice with 12k+ health and 50-70 resist with damage in the 200s looks insane on paper, but hitting wise, it's still massively outclassed by Storm, Fire, Myth, and Death. Most mobs/bosses in Arc 4 have pierce, so Ice's crazy resist is almost obsolete. Ice is, and will always be a worst-floor to meh-ceiling school unless KI buffs the hitting spells. They just can't output damage like most schools can.

As weak as it's damage output is, I love Ice.. because until enemies start getting pierce , it pretty much refuses to die. Arc 2 is definitely Ice's sweet spot! (While Arc 1 and 4 are the sour spots due to low damage in arc 1 and getting out-tanked by Life in arc 4....) For context, I have a level 87 Ice.. and when I run a double res + triple ward pet, he's packing 101% Fire res, 80% storm res, 73% ice res, 68% balance res, and 51% universal res. And while 50% attack isn't the best in the world, it's a moot point when you can just shrug off any attempt to kill you! (Plus damage enchants and crits exist at this point..) I just hope KI changes something to give Ice it's 'Tank' identity back again..

I have five Wizards throughout the current game of PVE. If you don’t know, I have managed to get Death, Fire, Life, Myth, and Ice through Selenopolis. I’m getting my Storm through Selenopolis as well, and I’m getting started on Novus on Balance. I failed to understand why Ice was so disliked when even if it has the lowest damage, it has extremely high survivability. Then again, every school should be balanced in some way. I have ways to give myself a challenge that many people wouldn’t agree upon, though. It’s how I manage to keep enjoying the game.

tbh balancing pve will prob never happend cuz they have said in the past they want to have regular questing feel like a story game and not be hard, that's why they nerfed certain bosses to the ground where it required specific schools to do, lets take storm titan in his release form into a count, you wanted to have a death to spam bad juju on your team else you didn't even attempt to do it, and allot of players were basically stuck there complaining and that's prob the reason they came with challenge modes, if you wanna have easy questing story mode where any school can do anything play regular mode and if you want it to feel like your school identity tackle challenge modes, as a person who runs challenge modes regularly I really feel like school identy does come into play where you can feel the draw backs of the school and they do feel more ''balanced'' but again said KI doesn't give more reasons to do challenge modes, its just a badge, a gold key and some cosmetic for completing it and it feels like it gives way less then you give in

Ice has super low pierce if they want to max out their damage at max level. Comparing this to my balance it’s a crazy difference. Enemies in the recent two worlds have resist so this is a problem for ice compared to the other schools. Life also has more health then ice now undisputedly at max.

i completely disagree with you for one reason and one reason alone. Solo play. Not everyone has guilds not everyone has friends to play with in this game. As an on/off player whose first wizard is Ice, I have a more difficult time questing because of the low damage ice has. I dont have the best pet for my ice so why should I be punish for picking ice (when i like the design and look of the school). So Ice shouldn't get nerfs. the last time Ice got nerf it became unplayable for us PVE players cause PVP players complained so much. TBH it sounds like KI needs to a better job as Gear Balancing than buffing or nerfing the base damage of schools.

This game isn't like most mmos (like FFXIV or WoW) where the Tank actually matters. There is no real aggro cause bosses AOE a ton, cheats that by pass taunts. There is no "Tank Mechanic" to which Ice can be valued over other schools and even then cause of Gear Life Death can be BETTER tanks than Ice. Before we start adjusting Ice back to the "Tank" School, KI needs to introduce Tank style mechanics or more tank stats specifically for Ice only(i.e. Pierce block more Stun resist stats more crit blocks).

its damage is bad arc 1 even with mount olympus gear, but so long as you use monstrous treasure cards a blizzard or bladed blizzard will still one shot all mobs arc 2 is the struggle. you are stuck with waterworks gear through avalon, azteca, most of khrysalis but after lvl 100 once you are in the 120% damage mark you will basically stop struggling and damage will be damage finally

if you are gonna solo, try to make a ice damage willcast hex pet, there's good bases in the kiosk. really you should always attempt to make a willcast hex school damage pet if you solo its so powerful for bosses

As you mentioned ice had to get buffed due to other schools performance e.g. life which does way more where it should not do way more than ice period. Ice has the weakest 7 pip aoe with a useless stun mechanic for some reason. Compared to balance and life where the aoe got the full dpp. So I think other schools need to be adjusted same as ice. Regardless if it’s through gear stats or just adapting base school damage. The problem is if you only address one school and leave out the rest, this school become unplayable since the meta is blade aoe for every school. I don’t know they would need to adapt the whole concept of schools in 2025

the devs keep saying they want to encourage school identity when all their actions and changes since 2020 have done the exact opposite, at least for standard pve. Every single school on every fight is blade + 7 pip spell all the time, no more shadow hits, no more defense or needing to heal. In teams you just hit and buff, and school stats are pretty similar across the board. At this point the schools are just reskins of each other

I have a 170 fire and ice wizard that have 170 gear. My ice wizard hits the same damage as my fire, 180 ish, with about 13k health. Also have dual boxed the entire Darkmoor dungeon with just my ice and a level 100 wizard. However, ice will always have the lowest pierce. My fire sitting at 60 pierce while my ice barely hits 30. So ig it all balances out 😂

Tbh I don't see any issue with classes being broken in PvE , unlike PvP enemy AI doesn't have feelings and there's no competition, our wizard being incredibly powerful is just canon by this point and I don't see why I should have to struggle to defeat 2 small fries when my wizard no-diffed Malistaire and Morganthe single handedly. Feeling powerful in a PvE game is a good thing imo , and they can still add challenging content in the form of cheating bosses and dungeons without making our wizards feel weak for no reason. Personally one way I like to make the game interesting for myself is by soloing everything and never using teamup , I soloed Tower of the Helephant , Tartarus, Darkmoor and way more on both my Ice and my Death and that was way more fun to me than pressing team-up and dealing with randoms that can't put a good deck together if you held them at gunpoint ( not that playing with a good team is any more fun that the thrill you feel for overcoming the challenge solo).

Fire and myth need to compete with storm more in PVE - ice should definitely have a little less damage through gear sets but if the base attack is super low who cares if they get the same percent damage? The attack will naturally do less regardless. Fire needs equivalent boosting gear to storm and myth needs a buff to defense and base power spells and you are all balanced :)

Personally I feel like ice is fun solid pick for pve, as a pve player myself, but I don’t think it’s one that people should have as their first wizard given the lack of damage if you don’t have to ability to create a damage pet let alone one preferably that gives a blade item card since you don’t get the blade till level 38.

The issue with pve isn’t certain schools being too overpowered. It has to do with pve being far too easy. The difficult curve is completely nonexistent until sometime after Empyrea part 1.

@ Yes I agree however there’s a fundamental issue with either solution. A majority of players pay for the game with membership to level up. Being on a timer encourages people to want to finish battles as quickly as possible, especially when 99% of those fights are fodder battles that hardly contribute to the story. If you make schools weaker without reducing the quests-per world, the game becomes even more tedious. If you buff mobs and keep the quest count the same for most worlds, you will find yourself spending a much longer time than necessary to complete worlds, and thus a few players would quit out of inability to proceed throughout the world with the limited amount of players to provide assistance (pertaining to the drop in player count over the years).

i love my ice wizard! it was only after i started a storm wizard that i realized how little damage she does. i'm currently in azteca on my ice and khrysalis on my storm. i never really had a problem with the low damage though just because i was able to tank the hits well, and i agree that ice should probably stay low damage. also, i had a question--if you even end up seeing this-- what are triple double and quintuple pets? ( 4:23 ) tbh i don't really know a lot about pets and neither does my family, we mostly just try to get as many maycast heals and shields as possible. i probably need a better pet. maybe you have some recommendations?

The best pets usually have damage and resist talents. A triple double is dealer, pain giver, and your school’s giver talent, with spell defying and spell proof. Triple damage double resist. A quint pet is five damage talents, which is usually specifically for hitting schools like storm fire and maybe myth. Usually has dealer, givers, and boon.

I am writing this in case KI watches the video 😂 Ice still does the least amount of damage amongst all the schools except balance because of the base damage of the spells. If they want to lower the damage they need to rework the ice completely. Make taunt 0 pips, make armor better, allow ice to stun bosses, give them utility. As they stand in PVE ice is still useless, what do they bring to a team? You cannot solo end game content and they bring nothing at all, so let them have some damage. P.S. in the end game life is much tankier than ice. Even the base hp without any gear is higher.

The things that make life “special” are pointless. All of our spells stun, but literally every boss after a certain point are stun resistant. We have barely any AOEs, most bosses after a certain point have high pierce/resistance, we don’t have any healing spells other than that bs celestial intervention. Also, we’re not even a tank school as every other school can get high health, high resist, etc plus there are better support schools. You know how many people leave team ups when I join because I’m an ice? It doesn’t bring anything to the table. For us to do really any damage, we have to stack so many blades. I love my ice, and I can almost always hold my own, but it sometimes gets really difficult.
