She is just a real Christ follower. Some people expect her to be perfect Christ because she sings music to him, but that’s silly. She is a Christian, not the Isaiah 53 Christ. Katy Perry was actually raised in the church, I think she actually felt the truth of that song really being meant by Laura. She had tears. I pray for them both. It must be so hard to be a singer in Las Vegas and Hollywood and still remember what’s most important is that God loves us and we need to keep faith in him and his ways as best.

I have a serious issue with Lauren Daigle's song "You Say"... The line: "The only thing that matters now is everything You think of me, in You I find my worth, in you I find my identity" is deeply concerning. Those lyrics precisely describe a person who has become completely codependent. It is almost the exact definition of Codependency. It's really quite frightening. Codependency is a scourge that needs to be addressed replacing love for addiction. Nobody should ever find there entire identity and value in something else besides themselves. It's a dangerous unhealthy notion so easily instilled by manipulation. The exploitation of hurt souls is the church's most convenient and talented skill. I hope people understand the difference between being religious while maintaining their own individuality and being overzealous and committing their entirety to anything else than themselves. Don't be a victim. Don't be a lost hurt soul looking to be filled by something else. Discover who you really are and be that. We don't need anything else than what we are to define who we are.

Hi Mitchell! So, in the song she’s not talking to another person. She’s talking directly to God. God = Life. He is Life itself. You are completely dependent on Life. It’s not codependent because only we are dependent on God. He is not dependent on us because He is complete and perfect. It makes complete sense to be dependent on the One who made you and knows you from the beginning. If your identity is in a person, a job, a skill etc, it will always fall short because these things are not complete and are created things and gifts by the Creator, Himself. What God thinks of us is the only thing that matters because He loves us and wants us to have eternal joy and freedom. Hope this helps clear it up :)
