Thank you for the video. I have found it really helpful. I hope you do not mind but I have a few tips that I feel maybe helpful for anyone new to tailoring their clothes. First one is to always wash & dry your item of clothing before tailoring. Jeans, I would recommend washing & drying 2-3 times. You may think “what’s the point?” But doing this will give your clothes the chance to shrink in the wash. And jeans can take 2-3 washes from new before they stay at a consistent size. Even 2nd hand clothes are worth putting through the wash at least once as some second hand items maybe brand new or almost brand new & have only been washed once or twice. Better safe than sorry. Secondly take off the back loop, so you can reattach it so that it offers additional support should you wish to wear a decorative belt. Thirdly, when doing the legs of trousers, when you have added safety pins to work out the size you want, it is worth turning them right side out & trying them on again. This is especially important if the person who the trousers are for suffers from swollen feet & legs, one leg could be wider than the other. Should you miss this step, when you have sewn them together & try them on properly, you may find one leg may not fit very well as it’s too tight while the other side is too wide. I find denim sewing needles & jeans thread a life saver. You can also get a sewing machine foot that helps with thicker sections of fabric. And a curved sewing ruler can help with creating & marking lines for the top sections of trousers to the groin area. I hope this helps & thank you for the video. Stay safe & well everyone. This is a tip for anyone with a splinter or small shard of glass that you can not remove safely & causing more pain & damage to the area. But first, if it’s something like glass or metal etc, contact a medical professional for advice like your doctors surgery or in the UK call 111. Get a plaster, preferably a fabric one (needs to stick very well to your skin) big enough to cover the area needed. If it’s a finger that needs a plaster cut each end 3/4 to plaster dressing pad to make it easier & more secure when wrapping around your finger. Get a small amount of castor oil & apply that to the plaster pad making sure you avoid the adhesive. Then apply to the splinter & secure the tape down. Leave for a few hours & remove plaster. Depending on the depth & size of the foreign body, the longer it may take to come out from under you skin. Apply a freshly made up castor oil plaster & repeat until the splinter is out. If this does not work before your skin starts to heal over the splinter, contact your doctors office or 111 in UK to ask for further advice. I know this is not a comment on your work, but I thought seeing as you were helping to give advice I would offer some back. Castor oil is great stuff. It helps your eyelashes grow a little thicker for a fuller look. And helps your eyebrows become fuller quicker if you have overly plucked them over time. Plus a small brushed in coat over eyebrow powder helps set the powder & keeps eyebrow hairs stay in the direction you want them. I always keep a bottle at home. There are many uses for castor oil & you can find lists online really easy.

One thing i often do is taking small parts in on all around the jeans and that prevents having to take them in all at one at the but crack and moving the pockets too close together
@AlextheENTP3 жыл бұрын
@@couch_philosoph3325 If it's only one size too big for you, you can probably get away with taking in only the back, and the pockets won't be too close together. But if you're reducing the jeans by multiple sizes, I'd do what you're describing.

Next time, save the original raised butt seam, and reapply/hand sew it over the new seam. It will give the jeans the look of the original, and you won't notice as much if they are a bit uneven.

Typically, when you're tayloring a piece of clothing, you want to take in an even amount of fabric from both sides of an item of clothing ( like the pant legs) other times, you may want to put in darts (probably what I would have done for the waist). That being said, good job. They look good

For the glass shard, I heard a rumor that if you take a fatty piece of bacon, and place it where the shard is located on your finger, wrap it with tin foil or saran wrap, and then wait at least an hour; the shard should be easier to take it out and it should be like taking out a splinter. I am not sure if it has to be bacon, I just know it has to be a fatty piece of meat and it does not have to be a big piece ( like couple centimeters to half an inch)

You can move your original hem up on the jeans by folding them up and cuffing them and then sewing right below the top of the original hem and then cut off the center of the cuff and fold the top back down and sew the hem down and you will have the original hem moved up on the jeans.
