Renault unveils a limited series of Mégane R.S. celebrating the very rich history of the French compact sports sedan. Renault Mégane R.S. Ultime is a collector's model that concludes, 20 years later, a prestigious saga that began in 2003.
Based on Mégane R.S. Trophy, Mégane R.S. Ultime further enhances its definition thanks to a unique presentation and ultra-comprehensive equipment. It replaces Mégane R.S. and Mégane R.S. Trophy from spring 2023.
A unique design with exclusive striping evoking Renault's new visual identity and black accents highlighting its sportiness, as well as ultra-complete equipment.
1,976 numbered copies (in a nod to the year Renault Sport was created) and signed by Laurent Hurgon, the driver and tuner who set the Mégane R.S. track records.
Mégane R.S. Ultime concludes the prestigious history of Renault Sport, which began in 1976 and is studded with sporting victories and legendary models.
A first public appearance in Japan, during the Tokyo Auto Salon on January 13, 2023, in a country which has an estimated community of 10,000 admirers of the brand's sports models
Inside, the Recaro bucket seats with titanium black Alcantara upholstery, including the embroidered R.S. monogram, are fitted as standard. The identification card for accessing and starting Mégane R.S. Ultime uses the diamond patterns of its bodywork strippings. Specific door sills are installed and, near the transmission control, at the bottom of the console, a numbered metal plate is affixed, marking the exclusivity of each model. It is signed by Laurent Hurgon, the test driver and developer of the Mégane R.S. as it evolves. He is also the author of his records at the Nürburgring, Suzuka and Spa-Francorchamps.
This limited edition based on the Mégane R.S. Trophy uses its 4-cylinder turbo 1.8 engine with 300 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque, with its EDC dual-clutch automatic gearbox (for Europe) and its Torsen mechanical differential, which allow you to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. It is fitted with Bridgestone Potenza S007 semi-slick tires developed for Mégane R.S. Trophy-R, here fitted with 19” Fuji Light rims and bi-material Brembo brakes with red calipers. The front axle with independent pivots, the lowered Cup chassis, the hydraulic compression stops and the 4CONTROL system with 4 steering wheels give it ultra-sporty handling, including on the track.
The Mégane R.S. Ultime equipment includes a number of Mégane R.S. and Mégane R.S. Trophy specificities as standard: 9.3'' navigation with Bose Hi-Fi system, 10'' digital instrumentation, R.S. Monitor on-board telemetry, adaptive cruise control and 360° maneuvering aids. The list of options boils down to the head-up display (left-hand drive only), the sunroof (left-hand drive only) and a cover with a specific design that will delight fans who have chosen this true collector's item.
