I mean, this version was on the concert. Which means someone from Alstroemeria still got it or has contact to who made it. And given how more popular and more mainstream touhou becomes as of late... (or maybe it just appears to me this way because I'm very actively partaking/lurking in all my favorite japanese creators outings). It is just a matter of time to receive the real deal instead of fancreations of this fancreation. I mean, we can hope so, right??

I'd love to see a video about the animation of the original version, I'd love to know how it was made. Who was involved in its creation, what software and techniques they used. What the 3D models looked like before they were made into shadow art.

I have a feeling it’s hand-animated - most animation software you could easily access without being part of a major animation studio in 2009 was fairly poor in comparison to how smooth the video looks, especially when it comes to the physics and transitions

The characters look to have a really solid foundation as the camera rotates and does other complex movements, plus in the shot from seeing Marisa's side to her back the stars in the background move as if they were in a 3D space. Meanwhile I can definitely see the transitions being hand-made.

let me bring some insight.. they likely look like untextured clay models with motionless eyes and i would imagine impossible deformations on their surfaces to get the animation working which is normally bad but since we cant see their full form it doesn't matter. some 2d sprites and primitives make up other props after that. as for software.. judging by the date i think it was either 3DSMAX or an older version of maya. the rendering technique is extremely simple, make everything unshaded black and leave the background white. the rest is just cross fading.

Comment 2 because?????: I'm so glad someone finally talked about this, no one ever did and I was waiting so long for the full version to be released, watching countless mmds and flipnotes and seizure inducing recreation WIPs (yes those are real, made in nintendo DS) but now half of the dream is real, now maybe more people might look into it and or get the real version or recreate it extremely good! (Maybe not in MMD, since the models are smooth and the motion is much more smooth like the parts where everyone has already seen)

its quite impressive how unique the idea seems to be of bad apple being black and white and how it ran with that uniqueness, either that or the demoscene is full of weebs or other songs are not as popular/im just not aware of other pieces of media often used (and im just talking about videos, because Im aware of doom) If anyone knows about other things often used I would like to know

If anything, existence of weebs are exception in demoscene, considering the strong western cultural roots (and lack of substantial demosceners from the east) Bad Apple just happens to have (literally) monotone shadow art, and easy target for demosceners to crunch it in retro hardware

OSU! did a great job in transporting the video on a 1Pixel/5minutes event r/place. I myself was busy helping some friends to keep their small Artworks, so I got attention on it late in the yin/yang phase of the video. What I liked about the original is how well they flowed from one scene to another, like how the apple turns into patchouli or sakuya's knife turns into flandre's wing. I don't like how in the new version they just lazily go into the window, it doesn't seem as creative as the original.
