Megapixel Multiply or Release 6

Nine colours, controlled by marbles, battle for control of a 1000x1000 pixel grid.
Marbles start at number 1, and multiply in value when they enter the corresponding green triggers. If they enter the red triggers, their number will reset to 1, and the number that was reached will be launched as either a burst attack or a charged shot.
Burst attack will fire shots equal to the number reached, up to several hundred or thousand shots per second depending on the number of shots still be to launched. Any subsequent burst attacks will increase the number of shots remaining. Each shot will convert one territory pixel to the player's colour.
A charged shot will combine the full number into one large shot, which will convert territory pixels equal to its number.
The charge can also be used to replenish the player's shield. The shield blocks any incoming shots, and takes damage equal to the shot strength.

IMO the thing keeping small numbers from being played needs to either be more aggressive pushing them back up, more willing to let small numbers through anyway, or both. Numbers were getting stuck there for significant amounts of time, and it was happening to enough that larger numbers were getting stuck above them.

I like that you've managed to tune things so the burst attack seems useful. In most of your video's I've seen, it always seemed like a waste of a marble when a big number went into the burst attack rather than the charged shot.

It does scale, but very slowly (log). I am tuning it a bit higher for the next one. But if it's tuned too high it just means that the first player to get a very high burst shoot just wins instantly. While getting a very high charged shot doesn't necessarily mean you win immediately, keeping the game a bit more exciting.

I think it might add a nice bit of variety if you picked a more interesting random number generator design than just plinko. Since it's taking up half the screen, after all, it'd be cool to shake it up a bit. Besides that, I think different probabilities of different outcomes might make for a better outcome.

Yea, I probably should. The issue is that that is the least interesting part of developing these for me, so I usually don't put much effort into it. I tune it to the point that I'm mostly happy with the outcomes and then don't touch it because I don't want to get a worse outcome. That said, I have changed it a bit for the next one.

I think my favorite ones are when there is gravity, smaller orbs of the same color get absorbed into larger ones, and opposing colors reduce each other equal to their mass when they collide.

The border that shows which area is behind the area with the marbles costings size and charged/burst/shield would change colour every now and then since if the board is just that colour it becomes a lot harder to understand where's the moving camera.

Love the video and enjoyed the selection of music! It's also nice to see the amount of times a marble has gone thru a muliplying green or red trigger. I was thinking, rather than just be a counter what if the counter for the green triggers also had some functionality to them. Say...if they reached a certain amount (100 for example), it would then double the multiplier. I tried to pick a high number so as not to unbalance the game or make the battle too short. Just an idea.

I think it could be interesting if there was some kind of mechanic that would make having millions of burst shots stored up more useful. Something like if a charged shot is dropped and it's less than 10% of the size of the current burst shot going on it will transfer 2% of the current burst total per second until reaching the 10% threshold and firing. So for example at 4:57 when the charge shot of 256 drops for purple and they have 3.7m it would transfer around 330k into that shot over 5 seconds before firing it.

I think the end of the video shows the benefit to having a lot of burst shots stored. Also simply having them last longer means that other colours will have a harder time destroying your cannon or your shield with their shots, yellow never had a large shield but was fine all game since they had so many burst shots stored.

I think that the one change I would make is that floating balls in que should be consumed to make emergency shields in the event of a fatal shot. Ultimately though, I wouldn't let the deflection happen unless the sum of all equates to the incoming shot. It would mean if you get hit by a big shot while shields are down, you're still likely going to die but if you're instead hit by a pea shooter while you have hundreds of thousands to millions in reserve you sacrifice them to barely live it
