Hey Turin, this is DandyDragon. I actually am focusing all my micro to snipe resources where I could. I was setting up water trade, grabbing those center resources, and listening to the different areas to listen to the sounds of combat to try and figure out the situation. I also prefer to save resources as much as possible.

I would love an FFA mod where you get all the resources of anyone you kill, giving a solid reward for aggressive play.

The problem with so many good ideas is people. Either someone would intentionally lose with a fat bank to help a friend (almost never), or people would accuse someone of doing that (all the damn time). You'd get toxic idiots bleating about feeding all day long. Some fairly mediocre flat-rate bounty might work, though. Enough to reward agression, but not so much that people could be bothered getting butthurt.

Concerning your Lord of the Rings analogies: The Dwarfs of Erebor and the Iron Mountains, the Elves of the Woodland Realm and the Men of Lake Town were dingle handily fighting of the Easterlings of Rhûn and the Orks of Mirkwood and the children of Shelob and the Dark Forces of Dol Guldur. There were many battles fought up there. No help from Gondor, no help from Rohan. They held on their own. That's one point of the Hobbit to establish a strong alliance in the north and to kick Smaug out of Erebor who could have been a potential ally of Sauron and Mordor. So the Dwarfs did a lot while the events of Lord of the Rings were unfolding. It's a similar reason why Minas Tirith was so bad defended because Gondor was defending every single port of it's enormes southern coast line from corsairs. That's actually what the army of the dead defeated and in the books Aragon, Gimli and Legolas show up to the battle of Pelennor Fields with said soldiers of Gondors who were then free to leave the ports after the corsairs were defeated. As typical for Tolkin there was A LOT happening at the same time and in the Lord of the Rings we just see such a small fraction of it. The whole continent of middle earth was in war. The Dwarfs actually did so much that their whole species was hit hart and they could never really recover from it so all magic and fantastical died out like the Ents and the Elves or left Middle Earth and the age of men was to come.

Hey Turin, this is DarkHunterEzra. Thanks for casting not only the finals, but my prelims as well. I hope to see you and the community on the next stream tournament. I was really shocked at several things during those two games most of all was winning the finals and the prelims. During the preliminaries I was flattened by the mongol’s double production of mangos and knights. I had to run away and buy enough food to age up, delete my buildings to deny the inka the bounty for my buildings and rebuild. Then it was pretty much a desperate hold to get spears and horsemen to hold off the mongol onslaught. Thankfully he didn’t have gold so my horsemen dives against his artillery were effective. The pink player to my new base’s north was surprisingly accommodating in allowing me to expand and pass thru to get to uravity’s wonder. I wonder how much good will my early market bought him. As for the finals I had to drive away dandydragon from my spot with a villager duel, then turtles up, taking resources where I could. Looking back, the reason I couldn’t kill off quill was because I cheaped out on my snipe and put in a lot of horsemen. If the initial snipe had been all knights he would have been dead since the knights would have been able to tank and annihilate the villagers repairing the seagate. You were correct where I put some knights to guard his landmarks, but man the failing of the initial snipe put me in a long dragged out fight that wasted a ton of resources. Thankfully icheezus made a wonder, deflecting the hate onto him and once again I made another mistake and overcommitted my forces and I was running out of wood. Losing 12 mangonels was painful. Looking at this, icheezus was going to die since all his landmarks weren’t protected with his wonder and I really overcommitted and was hurting on wood. Last and not least was the final hold. I was very desperate and was out of wood, didn’t remember to make fallback infrastructure due to lack of wood and forgot to get elite army tactics, pretty much full panic mode. I witnessed the deaths of my villagers and saw I had a ton of military and went searching for them, only to find them outside of icheezus’ base and brought them back in time take naniyori’s army from behind. I was really surprised they allowed my stables and houses to stay up as well as dandy not making a stone wall to block my mountain Springald’s from firing upon his trebs. I also didn’t have the foresight to stone wall in front of my red palace to block bombard shots. So I was really surprised to win.

Good stream but it’s always a bit disappointing when the final is won mostly due to an ungodly spawn/wonder position. Would love to see more regicide FFA’s where this is less of an issue

As someone who enjoys way more the large scale game modes on this game, like FFA or team battles, I don't understand how the game still lags so much in some cases. You can see at the end of the 1st FFA of this stream how his computer is fighting to maintain a high framerate but the game doesn't make it easy. I though that with the simpler graphics this game has they would be able to pull stable framerates. It's probably one of the worst things of the game imo, hope they fix it some day.
