Subbing to follow this. Do you mention anywhere what your total came out to be ? I'm somewhat mechanically inclined but I'm a little confused about how much is involved with the mega squirt.

Better control, really. The truck has true dual exhaust and is likely pretty leaky. I'll have to do some repairs along the way I'm sure.

Thank you for making content about a tbi megasquirt project. Makes me more confident to start one myself! If you face some difficulties I'd hope you'd cover them for information. Just right now I'm thinking would it cost pretty much the same to buy a Fitech EFI..

According to my fuzzy math it costs a bit less, but is more modular for the future, should I want to go that direction.

@@208Concepts true, true.. I do already have an aem wideband and in-tank electric pump so it helps. Let's say MS2's weren't as cheap as i thought lol. Then there's the Speeduino route, very interesting and shurely affordable but the tech and software skills it would require is just black magic for me haha.

@@waltteripatronen4535 Speeduino behaves a lot like Megasquirt actually. I went the DIY MS2 kit because it's about $150 less than the assembled unit.

Do you have any suggestions for a good quality somewhat cheap wideband?

Depends on what your needs are. The Spartan series are great for standalones where you may not want a gauge ruining the look of the vehicle (like the 74 Chevy project), and the AEM X series works fairly well if you don't mind a gauge. Lots of people have issues with Innovate controllers but I never have.

The main concern is drivability, and I'm sticking with the mechanical distributor to mimic the old fuel, just with fuel control 😁.

Yup, probably. I'm not going to deny that, but if you followed the build closely you'd know that my mother in law's uncle built this truck. The only reason it's keeping the SBC is because of sentiment.

That's understandable. Port injection is far better, but then its blatantly obvious that it's port injected.
