Every modern rock group from the Stones and Beatles to the Bee Gees and the Eagles learned how to sing and write songs with great harmonies from these guys. All of them have said they listened to the Everly Brothers when they were young. Every song they sang had that great harmony. Love them.

Several childhood friends and I used to listen to the music of the Everly Brothers way back in our elementary-school age in the Philippines. (We’re all are in our seventies now.) Constantly listened to them on a cousin’s transistor radio. We loved their music, and still do. My friends still live in the Philippines and I have migrated to the States. Since Don’s passing, I have been receiving online messages from my surviving friends. Don’s passing has left us all feeling so sad. The brothers have left us, but their music lives on - to us at least

In '85, these guys were nearly 50 with decades of aging, smoking, drinking and drugging behind them but their voices are still clear and blended like angels.

Part of that was how they used their voices. Natural vocal production, the way traditional music is sung. They grew up with traditional singing, and I believe that was a great influence on them.

I was lucky see the Everlys in Houston in '87. I sat in the second row and they were on a revolving round stage, surrounded by the audience. I've seen some good shows over the years but these guys were THE best, no question. This tops seeing McCartney twice and the Beatles are my favorite band, but this concert truly was thrilling.

Is it any wonder why The Beatles were so inspired by the terrific harmony from The Everly Brothers? And there were also the late, great Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Elvis, and there was the late, great Buddy Holly & The Crickets that motivated The Beatles to eventually become R&R immortals, even in imitating their insect name (Beetles), but spelling it in regards to music. The world of pop music owe these greats a huge debt of gratitude for some of the greatest music ever written or performed in the past 60 years.
@megasuggs15 жыл бұрын
Thanks Phoebus, you are quite right Walk Right Back was written by Sonny Curtis. The reason the Everlys left out the second verse is that they were under pressure to go into the studio, so Sonny gave them the song unfinished, by the time he came back to them with the other verse the recording was already in the can. ( have put a reply on rickee's thread)
