Anyone else thinking that the end of the route seems quite anticlimatic for such a race? I mean, the home straight is a boring thin track in the shadow sqeezed between a metal fence and some warehouse, and then the finish line is around the corner in some parking lot. Given the epicness of the start, shouldnt there be something a bit grander at the end?
@Farmboy15445 жыл бұрын
And now that you mention that, yes. The finish line is boring. Plus there was nobody there to cheer on the finishers. Consider that there is a helicopter and music at the start. Very little fan fare at the end.
@dcamp295 жыл бұрын
I think it's all based on logistics- it ends in a nice park (er in the park's parking lot) in the center of a small town. There is a bus stop 2 blocks away to pick you up and shuttle riders back up to the ski village. Also- they maximize the descending- you are literally at the bottom of a massive valley so the route stops there.

I have watched far too many of these already and I can tell you that a lot of these guys need to learn a bit about slipstream distances. Watch some road race examples. At 21:20 ish you see this guy using it and then get overtaken by a guy who was doing it better. You want to be half a bikes length from the guy in front of you and if they are doing it to the guy in front of them and the guy in front of them is doing it too you won't even need to peddle on the flats - so you'll save yourself for the hills and blast past everyone. Great job. I probably couldn't do what you guys do, even with the theory behind me. Keep it up!

Great run. Had you not had to contend with people starting in front of you and getting in the way causing you to fall you'd have been in the top 8-10 easily. I was hoping you'd push a little harder on the last roadway before the final single track through the woods to get to the narrows first but the dude slipped by you just before it and there was little chance of passing him after that, what with the dust in the air obscuring the right line. Excellent run and enjoyable vid.

@trejt5 жыл бұрын
@@dcamp29 That particular spot is a bitch. I've watched Kilian Bron's recording from this year's Mega over virtually the same track and he lost to Borges at that exact spot (though I think Borges was playing with him the whole race). Tiredness has long since settled in, so much of the race is behind you so the adrenaline has started to fade, the roadway bit isn't very long but has a rise and the legs are knackered. That's why I like enduro, the hill challenges break up the downhill and require more than just fearlessness. You did incredibly well. Thanks for the video.
@trejt5 жыл бұрын
@@dcamp29 interesting, the guy who passed you has his own vid of the event, and you are right, he crashed on the glacier close out of the gate at a bad line, slipping on the ice but continuing a good long way on a rocky patch that, from his swearing, I am guessing hurt quite a bit.

Yeah I trained super hard for this and a few other races that summer. You need a lot of fitness as there is 1000 feet of CLIMBING on the course.
