Just my 2 cents about the size of the rooms of the 1st: walls can always be knocked down and the space can always be rearranged as time goes by. I think the main importance of a house to live in is its efficiency: is it efficient and pleasant for its daily maintenance tasks (ie laundry, cooking, cleaning) and is the light distribution pleasant? If those two can be answered positively, than you can start looking at the actual beauty of it. If it’s neither efficient nor pleasant, than its beauty is not worth it on the long run... just my 2 cents!

Love that you’re taking us on this journey! I’ve just gone through buying my first home. Just wanted to say - make sure you have your mortgage in principle (assuming you’ll have a mortgage) before putting in an offer. A lot of estate agents won’t take an offer serious unless you’re in that situation. All the best! X

Fun fact of the day: Did you know the start of the new year used to be April? & after 1564 people who still considered April 1st the start of the new year were called “fools” and so began April fools day! April is my birth month ♈️ I like to look at it as another fresh start especially because this is when its getting warm and sunny out and the trees and flowers are blossoming which means I automatically start on a positive note! 😊 and of course because I actually turn another year older (in the first week of April!)

Nice, cant wait to see Saturdays! On the point of the neighbours, its best to think if you want to live somewhere for 10 years to ask yourself "what are the neighbours going to be like in 10 years". If they are all 80+ now, the properties will probably all be redeveloped and changed by new owners in a decade!

I feel bad to say I liked the second house 🏠 better cuz you said you did like it but the living area was amazing 😉 even though the rooms were dark, you will spend the majority of the time in that area and not in the rooms. The first house had an amazing kitchen but the living area is not open concept and the transition to the kitchen was wired but it had a great patio 👍🏻 it’s so hard to choose 😝

Like the first house but the stair case going up looks like a nightmare to move things up and down. Keep in mind how you are going to move things in and around the house. Like how do you get the dressers up the stair case or even a large bed. Loved the back yard so much potential to do what ever you like. Not sure if you showed much of the closets or storage area's but it looks like both houses do not have closets in the bed rooms. That is very unusual for our area. Most if not all bedrooms have there own built in closet.

Yes that is the case! Pre 1940's homes its assumed people would have had furniture made for storage, "wardrobes, chests of drawers". After WW2, the availability of materials and money led to internal storage "closets" being the norm in newbuilds , the rise of flat packs furniture and people wanting choice on lay outs meant by the 1970s rooms were free of built in storage.
