I went through so many emotions when my husband cheated. One moment I was screaming at him (which I'd never done in my life before) about divorce, and the next I was buying couples therapy books. In the end, I chose to forgive him and put forward a plan to work through things.... right before he asked for a divorce. The hardest part, for me at least, is coming to terms with the fact that he was no longer the man I'd married. The man I married would have never done that to me, nor would he have handled the aftermath as poorly as he did. It's made me so wary of dating again because I'm second guessing whether I truly know or can trust anyone. To anyone out there who's thinking of cheating, just end the relationship. Leaving is always an option, and although it will hurt your partner, cheating will likely have far further reaching effects.

​@y3vez 39 is pretty fking late bro, my boss at work is in a similar situation, he is 37 and only had 3 girlfriends, none right now. He has mentioned multiple times to me how he really want a wife now, but his options are now very limited. Either you have to get very lucky and find a girl in a similar situation of never getting married, whom you have no guarantee of being your type or a person you can really love, or you can find a girl who was divorced or widowed, who might already have kids, was previously married, and will unfortunately always compare you to the previous relationship. It is a very difficult situation that I really don't want to get stuck in, I am 18 but never had a girlfriend, and going into college I have no clue if the right girl will ever appear with the way that I am socially (not really a party animal or a super friendly guy). I feel for the original commentor and wish you the best of luck, but it will be a tough road if you don't choose to fly solo till the end.

Thank you so much for being so open to adoption and felling that that child would be yours even though your not blood related. My husband and I are BOTH infertile. We found out my husband was infertile first, and it was heartbreaking. It was definitely harder on me than him. My husband was told by doctors that he had a one in a million chances of ever having a child. We started looking into adoption and/or foster care. But to our surprise, we found out that we were pregnant after 6 1/2 years of trying. Unfortunately, we lost that baby at 15 weeks. We have now been married 19 years and we have had 5 total pregnancies and 2 (biological) beautiful kiddos! We still want to adopt and/or do foster care because that was such an important thing in our life years ago. We have some family that said they won't claim the adopted children as family. That's what sets me on fire. You don't have to have the same blood to be family. ❤

Can’t really understand why the extended family would care whether the child shares dna strands with them or not? I guess I would understand the grand parents wanting their grandkids to be from their son or daughter, but siblings? It would majorly affect my relationship with my siblings if I wanted to adopt and they wouldn’t acknowledge the child as family. It would with my parents too, of course, but I think it’s a desire of most parents to have grandchildren, so I’d be understanding that it could take a bit of time to adjust.

If you say something stupid like "I love you and we'll always be together, no matter what!", she'll take that to mean: 1) I have this guy locked down. 2) He's totally into me, and I can get away with anything. When she next gets hit on (and attractive women are hit on constantly), instead of rejecting the guy because she doesn't want to risk losing you, she'll think she can have some fun. What's the harm, if you'll just forgive her "mistake" anyway? Oh, and here's another free tip. Never, EVER, forgive cheating. Women only cheat on a man they have no respect for. If they genuinely love a guy, they wouldn't dream of risking losing him. If you forgive her for cheating, she'll lose even more respect for you. The clock will then be ticking before she cheats again, or leaves you permanently for a "better" man.

I believe in openness and honesty in relationships. If your girlfriend is going to cheat on you as soon as she thinks she has permission, then she probably isn’t a very good person and you shouldn’t be with her anyway. If you are in a good, healthy relationship, I don’t think your partner is going to cheat on you at the drop of a hat, especially if they are looking for a long term relationship. Also, I don’t think you’re going to get very far in a relationship if you’re too scared to tell your partner that you love them out of a fear that they’ll cheat. Again, if your relationship is like that, then I don’t think it’s a very healthy one. Sorry for such a long reply, these are just some of my thoughts :)

Some 40+ yrs ago, a woman that I was set to marry went out with her best friend (a guy) and I found out days later. She made excuses about needing to talk to a friend and that kind of thing but the fact that I had to learn about it from someone else told me that she had not= respect for me. I asked for the engagement ring back. I then walked 500yards to the banks of the OH river and threw the diamond ring into the river. I knew that I would have doubts about her for the rest of my life and while she called me a few times, I never saw her again.
