4:30 my grandma took that medicine when she was pregnant with my dad! 😳 nothing happened luckily because she stopped taking it bc of side effects but every time I hear about it I remember… it was very common in the uk!

My older sister was given that drug when she was pregnant for nausea two pregnancies in a row during early 60's. The kids had medical issues in their early years due to this. They discovered after the fact that it was a bad drug.

Thalidomide was actually widely used in the US to treat nausea in pregnant women during the 50’s and early 60’s. Although it was originally marketed as a sedative it was not being used to sedate ’hysterical women’ as you said in the video. I looove your videos and really appreciate that you generally don’t post misinformation as so many others do. I’m not being a hater, I just felt the need to comment as you do have such a large audience. BTW it is also still in use to treat certain blood cancers and skin conditions associated with leprosy.
