I have an extreme phobia of pregnancy and a fear of motherhood in general. I know it was brought on by trauma.. Anyway, I am SO THANKFUL that you are sharing your process because it is helping me to understand myself. I want to want to be a mom one day. I took care of my entire family from the time I was 10 and that has made me afraid to volunteer my maternal side again. Even now that my youngest sibling is going to be 18.. I just adore you 🩵🦋🥕🐣 You are helping hearts in ways you may not even know!

Thank you for sharing all of this, I'm in the process of testing for pcos myself currently. I had a full-fledged melt down after I learned that I most likely have it because all I've ever heard is how it can really affect fertility and troubles with conception and wanting to have a child in the next coming years, it's felt discouraging. It is SO comforting and happy to see you having a healthy, surely challenging, but healthy pregnancy. Been supporting you since the very beginning and am completely thrilled to be able to witness your family growing. Sending heaps of love from PA.

I have PCOS and I have insulin resistance. I completely agree. Don’t cut out the things you love! I do notice when I eat a lot of processed carbs and sugar I tend to crave it more because my blood sugar is going up and down. The thing that helps me is eating for sustained energy. THEN having a treat 😊. Although I love carbs and sugar, I love having energy for life even more! Protein and fiber filled meals are the goal and they truly do help with sustaining energy. But you also need carbs for energy! Protein and fiber help sustain the energy from those carbs. Abby Sharp does an incredible job explaining this!

PCOS is such a difficult battle girl. balance is key! dress up all your favorite carbs with proteins, fats, and fibers for a healthy gut - that’s been most effective for me in my 7+ year journey. you’ve got this! btw your questioning of so many dunkin locations made me chuckle. welcome to new england LOL, my town in MA has two dunkins across the parkway from each other 😂

If you ditch the whole "balance" philosophy, and do the carnivore diet, your seven-year PCOS journey will be over by this time next year. PCOS is caused by chronic hyperglycemia. Low carb diets solve this problem and, therefore, treat PCOS. Peace and love to everyone.

I do this too but the hair growing back stronger is a myth. If anything plucking can damage follicles over time but it won't make it thicker! It is totally normal to have some thick chin/neck/lip hair as a women.

Hi Meg - just want to take a moment of appreciation for the little things that you do naturally that are very healing for me. A part of my anxiety is the constant worry I have about doing something “wrong” or making “bad” decisions about things involving my home. Seeing you point out things that haven’t worked or were not functional and being so open to trial and error and adjusting or repositioning with ease is subtly healing for me and I appreciate it. It makes certain things that seem like such a big deal so much smaller and more manageable. Just want to thank you for being you. 💜

I also have PCOS and have struggled really hard with diet. I’ve always craved sugar and carbs but I’ve slowly but surely reduced how much I consume (except for when I’m sad LOL). Every small change you make counts and you shouldn’t feel overwhelmed or discouraged. It’s a lifestyle and a commitment to better health and it doesn’t have to be done overnight 💛🫶🏻

I have endo and I recently changed my diet completely. I was eating just like you and now I'm not. I'd say you get used to it, but only if you also allow some stuff still. Maybe you can follow the 80/20 rule - eat healthy/what's allowed in 80% of the time and the rest treat yourself. This way, that 20% does not cancel your efforts but still allows you to live. Also I expect this is harder during pregnancy but hang in there love ❤

when i was pregnant i was diagnosed with gestational diabetes so i had to really rework my diet from about week 28. and i thought it was the end of the world but i really found how to balance food. i’d still have carbs but be smart like you mentioned about the wholemeal and the rye, sweet potatoes, changing to wholewheat pasta. but i found bulking my meals with veg, nuts, cheese (halloumi cheese was my go too or feta) and protein salmon was my best friend and nut butters on a crisp apple was just 👌🏼 it was so hard at first and i was pregnant at this time of year and easter and i wanted creme eggs (a uk thing) and i could NOT have them and i was so sad, my go to was dark chocolate (bon apple tit) covered buts or cranberries and they were 10/10. don’t deny yourself the foods at all ❤ but its done the exact same as what you were saying my diet has completely changed and my little one has been on solids for about 3 months and its lovely. walking was my fave thing to do and stretching in the morning with a gentle yoga video was so amazing and just enough for me mixed with being on my feet at work.

This is so relevant to me right now. I was just told by my doctor my blood results came back almost exactly the same as yours and that her most likely diagnosis is PCOS. maybe it would be worth investing in a little pantry cabinet that's closed with doors and put it in the breakfast nook corner for your pantry items. instead of having to worry about them being under the stairs? just an idea! you could probably find one second hand very easily ❤

Im a clinical dietitian and i feel like her advice came from a good place but was extremely limited. Carbs are not the enemy!! Being aware and limiting your carbs as able is a beneficial lifestyle choice for increased insulin resistance, but also your approach of limiting items in a step wise basis and being realistic that certain things you will always eat is a wonderful approach. Eating a bagel every so often is in fact NOT going to be the tipping point of increasing your A1c to pre diabetic or diabetic. If you are feeling overwhelmed at all by the diet changes, there are many outpatient RD's who specialize or can help with a PCOS specific diet :)

Hi, glad to see you are doing well! ☺️I have PCOS as well, so I understand the facial hair issue. I also developed hormonal migraines and scalp acne (due to high testosterone). I saw my GYN this week about the it, but she wouldn’t draw labs to see where my levels were because she didn’t feel it wouldn’t really tell us anything that we already kind of know. She wanted me to try either progesterone 12 days a month or a combination BC daily. I personally went with the daily because it would be easier for me to remember. She said if I don’t notice a difference in a month, then she may consider drawing a full hormonal panel on me.

yess it’s so hard to change your relationship with food when you’re an adult after growing up in a house that was constantly critiquing everything you put in your mouth! when i was young and i had ice cream my mom would say something negative about it EVERY time so my body developed a psychological response where i got so sad and usually cried after i ate ice cream because it associated ice cream with shame and judgment. it’s been so hard to rewire that response and allow myself to enjoy ice cream now! lol but i get it!! it’s hard to maintain healthy habits while simultaneously not wanting to deprive yourself and allow yourself to continue healing 💕💕 anyways lol. love ya!!!

I think you got some really good advice from that doctor. One really cool thing I’ve learned while studying microbiology is that what you do or how you live can (can not will) change what genes will be “visible” in your offspring. It is called epigenetics. For example, if you are super stressed the genes for that behavior/feeling can be more “visable” in the offspring leading to a child that becomes stressed more easily. And it also works the other way around, if you during pregnancy feel good, eat good and so on it could affect the baby in a positive way even later in life! So doing yoga and doing things that are good for you and feels good to you will also be good for the baby in the long run. Super cool stuff!

Now I’m breastfeeding eating whatever tf I want but I definitely was being cautious with my diet prior to finding out I was pregnant and think that helped too.

Cut yourself some slack! Gestational diabetes is not a reflection of your health or how healthy you’ve been during your pregnancy. Having gestational diabetes in not a moral failure. There is no known direct link between particular foods and an increased risk of gestational diabetes. Just like "unhealthy" people get it, plenty of extraordinarily "healthy" people get it too. You have a placenta that doesn't regulate insulin that well, and that's perfectly okay! If you really think about it you're already a rockstar parent because you were responsible enough to do your glucose test (even though it sucks), and now that you have your diagnosis, you're going to manage the condition with your provider. Look at you go! Already aced a parenting task and baby isn't even here yet; you're gonna do just fine!

There are options when it comes to the glucose test! We shall see if it is as insufferable, but my midwife has organic jelly beans. Let’s not shame mama’s who opt out of particular tests for whatever reason. Interesting user names too lol hehe

I love cleaning videos but for some reason I don't like watching them if I don't watch the person otherwise...something about not being familiar with their space is just off-putting to me! All that to say I really enjoy your cleaning vids and would love more when applicable!

When I got diagnosed with PCOS my doctor told me to switch to the Mediterranean diet. I was like bestie I appreciate you think I have the willpower to do that, but… No… 😂😅

PCOS heals when you reduce insulin spikes, you can do this by having animal-based protein and fats. My sister and I healed our PCOS within 4 months by quitting veganism, and eating quality protein and fats (not beans and peanut butter) with every meal. I hope she gave you better advice other than peas and bread... Look up clinical trials on PCOS, insulin resistance and diet- you'll find so many studies on a moderately low-carb diet on the reversal of PCOS! (I'm not saying keto is the way for you). Soy-based products like veggie sausage are quite possibly some of the most processed foods... Not only does your baby's health start in the womb, but having a diet of baked goods, pasta, soy, and ice cream risks hurting the baby more than it will hurt you.
