I personally think that even if you're not an introvert, riding motorcycles or having any other hobby you do it for yourself (mostly) by yourself, is a good thing. Think about it... If you don't like to spend time with yourself, why would others want to do so?

Very well said. It's so important to grow as an individual; so many people forget to learn to love themselves in order to better love and be loved by others.

What you girls both present is what motorcycling is all about, seen through young eyes, the new rider expectations and experience, and desire to enthrall all the new riders to make them want to ride! I wish there were 10,000 more girls like you on this planet! You have the most honest and humble personality I have ever seen. You are starting to make me come and ride and visit Wisconsin!!!!!! Please keep making your awesome videos Mehgan!!!!! Peace and Happy New Year Lady!!!

Agreed. Motorcycling is a great way to reduce the stimulus as you focus on the road and environment. Yet, it still can feel social when riding with others since everybody is focusing on something at the same time. Massive socialization is available at stops or occasional communication. Plus, much of the small talk/ice breakers are minimized and topics are more focused. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

I am a major introvert. I love riding because I can just be with myself and have fun. Riding with one or two others I know well can be fine. I hate riding in groups though. It seems to bring out the worst behavior in people. Great video! I'm looking forward to more! Glad I found this channel.

Ohhhh....very interesting Meghan, lots of cool points brought up. I usually ride with the same friend when going to events, but also enjoy going alone from time to time. It's fun to just go blend in and see what I want to and take off. I ride a Vrod, so no stereo, just pipe noise and my thoughts. Love the rides to and from work, very calming and centering. I'm happy when work day is done, but more so cuz I get to ride my bike home! Keep up the videos and hope to see you at the Brewtown Rumble this summer at Feul cafe.

Brilliant Video Meghan!!!! Wonderful explanation! Here's the thing also. I am definitely an introvert!!! I can only friend/bond with certain types/people/individuals. I don't make fiends easily. I am not very outgoing with strangers. I ride my bike/s to separate myself from the rest of the world, to find quiet time somewhere with like minded people in another place. Motorcycles to me are Escape in my own time. This is MY time! I enjoy not having to tell people the reason I look so happy....

This is a very interesting topic for me. A lot of people think that because I ride a bike I want to be the centre of attention. But I like the fact that my bike gets more attention than me. It takes the focus away from me. What you said about it being an active meditation was spot on too. Oh and that Ducati of yours is drop dead gorgeous! Ride Safe. Namaste 🙏🏻

Absolutely! I am a military and police veteran in my late forties, medically retired with complex PTSD. I started riding about four years ago. I struggle constantly with sensory processing, and my slight tendency to introversion has been exacerbated post-morbidly: If an environment is too noisy, I tunnel vision, and lose the ability to see detail. Visually busy places make it hard for me to process auditory information, particularly if there is more than one person speaking. On the bike is one of the few places where I can settle down and focus - be present. Everything is to do with the bike, and nothing else intrudes, unless I choose to add it in. More data can be added by small degree, like pushing that well known curve with a little more lean, or a little more throttle. No one talks to me while I do my thing, and I come home to my wife and daughter in a more settled mental state. The best therapy yet! Slowly, I find more draw to the social side of motorcycling - But the large groups are still way too much data for me! Baby steps. If I ever make good on my thoughts about travelling North America by bike from my home in Western Canada, I will see if you're up for a coffee! Thanks for getting the message out that some motorcyclists are deep thinkers! *Subscribed*

Agreed, it’s nice to be able to tune yourself out from the world when on the bike. Especially being a Ducati rider in Milwaukee, it’s a very niche group so when you see another Ducati rider, the conversation is usually about each other’s bikes and gear. It’s be awesome if there was a Ducati themed meetup in Milwaukee. I do find riding therapeutic and just being able to close yourself off from the world and out some tunes on.

Ah, yes! Exactly how I feel! I love the flow of driving in the mountains, alone, for hours. It's much easier to klick into a conversation with other riders, when there's that common bike topic to talk about. It's awesome to get together at events but it drains me and after some hours I need to cool down and recharge my "social batteries" alone for myself.

The moto vlogs are getting much better too, finally getting into a groove!

Another awesome video Mehgan!! Pure Genious Lady!! What you have described is that "LIKE MINDS" coalesce into groups of like minded individuals and form groups of like minded people which may in turn, create a new trend/ or not. Your video is epic here in the way that you presented it!!!! Motorcycles are a way of solitary communication, quality time, between people. Especially like minded minds. This has been the way of motorcycles and people since the beginning. You, elegantly, have brought this full circle in the modern era. AWESOME video MEHGAN!!!! Brilliant stuff lady. Cool. Cool. Cool. Jeeez Meghan how do you come up with this. You just described me and I didn't realise! I reckon I am an outgoing introvert! Don't know if that's a thing, but it's kinda how I am. Odd huh. I am astounded by your skill at picking this up as a topic for bikers. Your channel is quickly becoming a thinking-persons biker vlog. Bravo, keep up the good stuff. "Irish Goodbye" (I didn't know it was called that) - I am known as The Sloper (for sloping off .. "where'd he go!!!" "he did it again" :-) Motorcycle Zen does it for me because when I am riding I am thinking of nothing else. --do you mind if I ask why you didn't you go with "stark nakked" as your hoodie/brand?
@MeghanStark5 жыл бұрын
Awesome! I'm so glad you've come along for the ride. I want to keep up with these types of critical analysis videos interspersed with some light-hearted fun stuff. As for the brand, I want it to be able to thrive outside of just me and grow into a real company. I plan eventually to open up a cafe and retail space, so it was important for it to be able to translate into a physical location. I'm hoping the eCommerce store will be a solid proof of concept and will help fund the brick and mortar. I don't really want fans of me as "starknakked" anyhow, I'm not sure where this whole social media thing will go. ;)

Irish good byes are the best, I always do this and eventually your friends will understand that’s just you. Like you I hate the greet and the goodbye, it doesn’t feel natural and adds small talk. I always say hi to everyday people but never, “Hi, how are you?” Generally I head straight to the person who I want or need to talk to in a social setting. Introverts like a detailed conversation, never small talk. I ride bikes because it does give me alone time, plus I have a true passion for bike of course. I enjoy my own company as, like you said, it does relax me. I also like asking myself questions and coming up with well thought out answers or solutions. That being said I’m a very loud person too and no one would ever call me shy. I’m very selfish in a conversation and generally try to control it (hopefully without others noticing). Shamefully, I think this also has something to do with my sales training back ground, if I’m being honest. I hate crowds and hate talking to a crowds. I don’t know if I am an introvert, but this was a very nice subject to bring up and reflect on. I will probably do more reflecting on this when I go for a ride today. I’ve watched a few of your video’s now and really enjoyed them, thank you. Subscribed.

This was such an interesting topic. I recognize myself in allot if this... For me time alone is so important, either on the bike, doing some project in my garage.. or just at home lying on the couch in silence with a good book, my thoughts and imagination... I do enjoy company, but if there is to many people around, allot of noise, etc.. I start to get edgy (feel overstimulated) and just want to get away from it all for some calm and quiet.

Hey, Did you steal my personality ?????? And I’m a dude !!! I would go on the occasional group ride but preferred exploring on my own or with one friend. I was a working musician for 20 years and was more comfortable performing at a venue and being on stage than going to a club when I wasn’t performing and just going to socialize. I was also an animator....creative people tend to be more reflective and introverted. Our minds wander cause we’re thinking up creative stuff 😊 I’m completely fried mentally after a large social gathering. Being with a small group of close friends is way more fun. I hate random small talk. It’s exhausting. Cheers

At the (cute) beginning you remind me of Daft Punk! [my (terrible) dance moves pop out!] "Uh huh, uh huh.." LOL Here's a couple great websites on Introversion/Extroversion: www.16personalities.com (one of the best Myers-Briggs personality tests I've looked into/taken) www.QuietRev.com Susan Cain (of QuietRev.com) has some excellent vids here on YT and I believe that she coined a new term "Ambivert", which I find an important term to help us understand ourselves. 20% of the world are introverts, 60% are ambiverts (ambaverts? - that's how it's pronounced by Susan), and 20% are extroverts. The Irish goodbye is sweet! Sometimes I love it :-D Oh! A cheese head! My aunt is one of the owners of the GB Packers! *;-)* I LOVE your hoodie! Yes, I'll take a hundred! LOL - I wish I could help you out like that, but since I'm an introvert....I don't know 100 people. ;-) Speaking of which, one good sign that a person is an introvert: they only have one friend. That friend is usually an extrovert, thus their friends become peripheral associates too. Thanks for the vid. Now I gotta watch a few more to get more info from your perspective. BTW - I love the name Meghan. Probably because I have quite a bit of Celtic lineage (among others). No, I don't have red hair. :-) Wait, a Ducati Scrambler? How tall are you? Aren't those fairly tall bikes? Hmmm....now to Wikipedia to find the seat height. Ok, "31 inches (without accessories)" So...my Levi's inseam is 31", so...hmmm....I wonder what that translates to in seat height comfort...I gotta get a bike! Wish I could build a nice custom (unique) Cafe Racer - but with seating for two ;-)
