A few weeks ago I shared my paralysis story (watch that here: • How I became paralyzed... ) where I stated that I jumped off a cliff. I forgot to elaborate on why I jumped off a cliff so I received many questions about why I would jump off a cliff. Today I will answer that question as well as clarify why I am a quadriplegic and not a paraplegic. I also answer the question of if we have any pets :)
Let us know what other questions you have and we will answer those as well.
We answer some other questions here: • How did you choose the...
How I became paralyzed from the chest down and became a C7 Quadriplegic: • How I became paralyzed...

Now, that is a really good point you made. If you’re gonna get paralyzed, you will get paralyzed and that’s just the way it is. And the story about the guy in the car really proves that. Well…. I don’t know if it proves anything, but it sure did make me understand your point really well! I’m really glad I found your channel today❣️

It’s amazing (and a little perplexing) that you are so casual and cheerful about all of this. You would think that you would come across far more severe and grave. Especially when talking about jumping off the cliff and your broken bones jutting out all over the place. Well, your strong enough to handle the situation is all I can say. I’m both perplexed and inspired.

Thanks for explaining the #s and visual description! I understand the injury better now. I landed here from a prior post - how does one just leap off a 45ft cliff? It sounds like spatial distortion - I’ve experienced it once each while scuba diving and flying a Cessna. The environment can make one thing seem like another. Wish you both well,

Meg, as a C7 do you use your pectoral muscles or your diaphram to breathe? Do you have any abdominal muscle control? I'm a C 5/6 incomplete quad, but after 28 years I have some abdominal muscle control but no pectoral muscles or triceps. Some C7's also have control of their thumbs and index and middle fingers. Not a full grip, but better than nothing. Thanks for sharing your life.

I believe too God has a plan for each of us. I have been told I should have died more than 10 times with an undiagnosed illness. Wills, clergy, and social workers have been there to support me through the experiences. What I have learned is his doesn’t want me yet. I don’t know why but good or bad I’ll take it.

if anyone can answer this for my curiosity....why do people who already have so many kids go and get a bunch of dogs? arent kids enough to keep people happy and busy? geez...just wondering. I always wonder that because the people I run into in the park have their hands so full with the kids and the dogs that most the time either the dogs arent being watched or the kids arent... then their dogs run up and jump all over me and i hate it. and people have their hands full at home too so they let their dogs bark and bark in the yard and disturb the neighbors. My mom always "needed" dogs around too and Ive always suffered the consequences and shouldered all the responsibility. my mom even burdened me with yet another new dog when she insisted on getting one right before her dementia diagnosis.. I begged her not to but she didnt care, now I am stuck with my mom and her dog. and I have a lot of resentment for that. especially because I am very poor and live in very expensive California, and my mom has no money to help me. dog people usually have no insight to how others feel. its just all about making themselves happy and thats wrong in my eyes. sorry for the rant. this doesnt apply to anyone in particular

Ok, Meg, I'll ask: Whit, why did you marry someone in a wheelchair? I worked with giraffes at the zoo. They have 7 cervical vertebrates. Look at 'Freddo the wheelchair guy'...he was on a ski slope, went off course during a blinding snowstorm...and fell like 50'. The 'Wheels to Walking' guy (Richard something) was jogging where there are underground parking garages, whatever barriers there are on sidewalks, wasn't there, and he fell 50'. Both are low level paraplegics. Certain areas have different designations for classifying quads...you are in Utah...maybe that's how they do it there..2 vertebrate lower. Other areas go by function as to what level you are and yet other areas go by the vertebrate broken. Like me, I broke C4 and have been designated a C4 quad. C5 and C6 fused naturally over time though because of the trauma to them which is strange because I didn't break C5 and C6...it wasn't even involved in the trauma. You can tell the designation is incorrect when they use specific breaks in the injury...like a Jefferson fracture...which involves C1 (it's not go down 2). I'm C4...C7 isn't involved in any way...and have no triceps. So they classified you incorrectly. You are a C3 - C6 quad (or whatever cervical vertebrates you are. But it's strange, C6 doesn't have writ movement. You are not a C7 level at all. Ok, Meg, I'll ask: Whit, why did you marry someone in a wheelchair? I worked with giraffes at the zoo. They have 7 cervical vertebrates. Ok, Meg, I'll ask: Whit, why did you marry someone in a wheelchair? I worked with giraffes at the zoo. They have 7 cervical vertebrates. They may not have deceived you about the breed of the dog. There are different classes of Rat Terriers and Decker Rat Terriers are the largest of the Rat Terriers and he looks very much the Rat Terrier. However, look up a Smooth Fox Terrier on wikipedia...there is Fox Terrier in Mogley.

We don't need to ask why he married a girl in a wheelchair. The love in his eyes when he looks at you says it all. And yes, human necks and giraffe necks are homologous structures with 7 bones each. That's evidence of evolution.
