When the original of this video came out about 40 years ago and when I was a missionary about 35 years ago, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had approx. 5 to 6+ million members worldwide. It also had approx. 35,000 full-time missionaries. Today, in 2024, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has 100,000+ missionaries (Full-time, Senior (Older Adults), and Service Missionaries) and 17+ million members throughout the world. In decades past, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints grew by 1,000,000 every 3 years. Though our growth rate has significantly slowed down over the decades, we still continue to grow by approx. 20,000 members a month, 250,000 members a year, and 1,000,000 members every 4 - 5 years. Approx. half of the Church are people of color. In Fact, Africa is the fasting growing area of the Church today, followed by Central and South America. Also, the Phillippines is the fastest area of the Church in Asia. Seekers of truth will wonder why (which many have done) is this The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the most persecuted Christian Church by other Christian Churches today. Why are so many films, movies, plays, news reports, KZbin channels, and other social media platforms portraying The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in a mostly negative way. One has to think. Wait, I’ve worked or gone to school or been associated with many active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (aka Mormons). The Church 1st sent missionaries to the Hawaiian Islands in 1850, 3 years after they (the Latter-day Saints) went into Utah having to flee from the United States of America into Indian/Mexican territory due to so much persecution (slander, bigotry, tarred and feathered, rape, killing, burning of homes and businesses, driven out at gun point, etc.). Many of my ancestors were darker than some of the Blacks today. The Church grew quickly in the Polynesian Islands (Hawaii, Tahiti, Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, etc.). 30% of Samoa are members, almost 50% of Tonga are members. About 10% of Tahiti are members.

That still makes Smith a notorious fraud--the entire premise for this discussion. Even if we were to dismiss the second hand accounts of Smith's vision, the four that Smith either wrote or dictated have some glaring inconsistencies. It's less about the wording between the different accounts of Smith's 'first vision' and more about the conflicting details in each retelling, like the personages that supposedly appeared before him. Smith also made the opposite claim that this would happen by 1891 in history of the church volume 2. You can argue over what the church recognizes as an official prophecy all you want, but saying something to the effect of "the lord is coming in 1891" fits the literal definition of a prophecy, or in this case, an attempt at such. I think it's safe to assume that he wasn't referring to a temple in Ohio, when he specifically stated Western Missouri as the location. Also, what's the point of having a prophecy, if god is just going to claim a mulligan and require a subsequent prophecy to fix the first one? You're only making my case stronger and underscoring how little credibility Smith had regarding divine revelation. As for the book of Abraham, Joseph Smith made copies of facsimiles 2 and 3 along with his translations. You don't need the originals to see that Smith had no idea what he was doing when he claimed to be translating from the papyri. There was never any evidence of additional scrolls beyond that. This ridiculous idea is simply grasping at straws. Even if there were additional scrolls, you can see Smith's own handwritten notes which correlate his mistranslations of facsimiles 1, 2, and 3 into the book of Abraham. I do look at both sides of an argument, and I would assume most people do. However, the facts and logic make it plain to see that Smith was a liar and a fraud.

Besides, there is no requirement that a prophet must be perfect. And that also works for the different accounts. Paul's accounts of his meeting with Christ on the road to Damascus are all a little different, but that doesn't seem to bother anyone. History of the Church is made up of journals of those who were somewhat close to Joseph. So that account is a little dubious. The D&C is more reliable.
