This video shows how you can engage your lower half and generate more power. I demonstrate with a wedge and with a cone. Wedge Dimensions: 25"x 8"x 5" 30 degrees

Thanks Megan for the videos. My daughter is in her first season in 8th grade. I wasn't able to teach these fundamentals. We are behind but now she has a chance because the coaches now seem to focus on the kids that are already at this level and she is in the 7th game of season. She is getting frustrated with herself.

I’m sure it’s super frustrating but she will find her groove very soon!

What size bat are you using? My daughter is similar in size and looking for bat recommendations. Thanks!
@MegRemSoftball Жыл бұрын
32/22. I used a 33/23 in college.

@@MegRemSoftball ok thanks! I had picked out a 31/21 and she liked the feel but I didn’t know if I was close to being right on the start size.
@MegRemSoftball Жыл бұрын
@@anthonygivens8571 It's definitely her preference! You don't want it too light though. I am 5'4" - 120ish pounds for reference

@@MegRemSoftball she’s 5’2” and almost 120 so that’s pretty close. She hasn’t developed her swing speed fully so I may go with that bat for this season and go bigger next season. She’s been watching your videos and doing the drills so it should be increasing.

These are my thoughts only you have way more experience than I. I feel that you need a strong back leg base as you push through you hips. I observe that as young batters move the back leg forward they never re-establish that strong back leg base and they lose a lot of power in their swing. Comments??
@MegRemSoftball3 жыл бұрын
As long as they have a strong base and firm front side, I don't mind the leg coming forward. To be honest I don't see many young kids move the leg - it's more of the older crowd, as they know how to execute.

On these hitting drills where should tee placement be? I feel out in front of you.. you agree ?
@MegRemSoftball3 жыл бұрын
For down the middle, after your stride the tee should be about even with front foot

@@MegRemSoftball , how about your drill with the wedge , for load?? Where should tee be?? Thank you for your quick responses. Love your videos .
