Wow..and sometimes the ball is moving..and fast...and just getting your glove on it is a challenge...yes..maybe with a slow moving ball going less than 10 mph..this might be possible...maybe she's talking about how to pick up a stationary ball..😊
@MegRemSoftball20 сағат бұрын
Nope, talking about a regular ground ball. For us athletic people, it's not a challenge. For you, it sounds like it would be! That's okay. Keep working at it, Michael!Thanks for the engagement!

@MegRemSoftball So..your in your ready position playing 3rd base..a 90 mph ball is blasted about 6 ft to your left or right down the line..and all you can do is react..maybe 1 step and reach or dive....so you tell me what your going to do....like I said..if it's a slow moving ball right at you..ok...
@MegRemSoftball19 сағат бұрын
@@michaelmullen3481 well of course you can't if it's 90 MPH to your right or left. Let's use some common sense big guy!

Is there a way to do this while diving into home? Just dive to the side? I recently broke my leg while sliding and am going to try diving. 🤷♀️
@MegRemSoftball21 сағат бұрын
I wouldn’t recommend diving into home. Too dangerous! Now, there will be times where you hook slide and start feet first and turn to a dive which is fine because you’re past the catcher.
@Playtimequeen21Күн бұрын
I don’t understand a lead off? Just to run half way and run back? So your tricking the defence team into stealing another base but your not? And what if the batter kits that ball? You can’t lead off anymore no?
@MegRemSoftball20 сағат бұрын
A lead off is there so if the ball is hit, you’ve got a good jump

And another question is when do I have to run to base and actually stay there Because ive seen other base runners touch base and slide past it but other slide but keep there hand on, what in game situations are those?
@MegRemSoftball2 күн бұрын
You can slide past home but with every other base, if you’re sliding and staying there, you can’t go by it.
@Playtimequeen212 күн бұрын
When can I hook slide, I’m still learning! Is it when it’s not a forced run and just a tag up?
@MegRemSoftball2 күн бұрын
Yes! It has to be a tag play and not a force
@Playtimequeen21Күн бұрын
@@MegRemSoftball thanks! And for a forced run does the runner have to be one base behind or it doesn’t matter as long as there are runners behind you?

I really only take issue with kids who are natural and heavily dominant right handed, but they’re fast so they get converted to lefty and try to learn to slap hit. Natural speedy lefties, I get it. But man, it’s hard to sit there and watch a natural righty have bad AB after bad AB. For the ones who can do it though, it’s pretty cool to watch and part of what makes softball different and great.
@MegRemSoftball8 күн бұрын
@@unicornwarhammer1926 totally understand that! I say if you’re dominant right, stay right! Even if you’re fast.

@@MegRemSoftballmine switched fully from right to left this fall for 12U. She has caught on to the mechanics. I’ve heard that switching back and forth doesn’t help and if you commit to it, then it opens up options. Especially if they can hit with some power.

Anyone that wants to watch what slapping can do to a top team in the country, 2016 PGF 18U finals is all you need to see. To us baseball guys slapping is sometimes not fully respected but it should be. Then if you can find it watch Tony Rico explain why he made the line up the way he did. Excellent coaching in that game.

More a question. Teaching my daughter to slap but I see you actually stride with front leg first. I just taught crossover with no initial stride?

It depends on the slapper and what they feel comfortable with. Most slappers will take a small step in with their front foot before crossing over. Mainly helps with timing!
