Megumi probably knows now more than anyone what a monster sukuna is, he probably even understands that sukuna is toying with everyone and maybe that adds even more to he's unwillingness to fight. Imagine being a little kid infront of a huge ass grizzly bear that just casually slaughtered your family including the one guy you had put all hopes on, and everyone outside the fence is telling you to run towards them and you'll survive and this bear is looking at you and you're looking back at it, in that moment only you and the bear know how hopeless your situation is given the circumstances, the bear knows you're going to die and you know it too but the friend telling you to fight for your life doesn't even understand the situation you're in because he casually caged that bear when he was put infront of it so he doesn't understand only you do. That is what Megumi is going through and unlike Yuji he can't fight back, and it's very inclined with Megumi. He seems like he's a calculated guy and he's not very optimistic so a situation like this is hopeless

From the start he never wanted to be a JJK sorcerer and only really started to put effort in it once Tsumiki went into a curse induced coma. Afterwards he has to deal with forces that not even teen Gojo (the strongest sorcerer even back then) who is older than him have to face. The man just started getting a taste of what his potential could be and then he suddenly gets blindsided by Sukuna who just took any agency or growth he could've had away from him. Meanwhile you had the others have a month of preparation to defeat Sukuna, with Yuji growing as far as getting all these techniques because they were either etched into his body because of Sukuna, gained from absorbing the other cursed wombs, or honed through soul swapping and practicing. Megumi had nowhere near that amount of training opportunities allotted to him and for that amount of time as well. His most notable advances in strength were honed during the heat of battle only. Bro is the second unluckiest character in JJK, only being edged out by Yuji since he had the king of Curses in his body for far longer but even that is debatable since Megumi has no say in what Sukuna can and can't do other than suppressing him. Sukuna literally prepared to kill Megumi's will so that he can fully transform while the others were training and preparing to fight Sukuna. He's unprepared for all of this meanwhile Yuji and the others have had time and resources allotted to them that Megumi didn't have access to (because if he could then why didn't he?).

The biggest ace in the sleeve Megumi now has is his domain expansion. He saw himself kill his sister, got bathed in evil and even hit by infinite void four times to stretch out the agony into infinity. His soul by now is pure darkness and I wouldn't be surprised that by the time the fight stretches into the night his domain would eat Sukuna's whole and take him into the cursed dimention between dream and reality where Megumi could literally control every single aspect of that domain and even create a different reality for himself. The chance for that to happen though, would need to come from Yuji changing his soul with that of Megumi and possibly fighting Sukuna in his innate domain.

Also what really sets Megumi's CT apart from Gojo's is not only Mahoraga, but rather the domain. Gojo's domain seems to resemble Buddha or enlightenment as it is void like when reaching nirvana, while Megumi's seems to stem from the root of all Jujutsu and is the darkness itself, thus inherently making it a stronger barrier technique if all else is equal, hinting for the ten shadow bearer's potential to be the strongest domain user.

the fact that megumi rejected being saved by yuji in that moment should seal his characters fate... at least from a narrative standpoint... in order for the character arc to be completed imo he either will need to sacrifice himself to defeat sukuna in order to redeem his character or he will instead be taken to the extremes of nihilism and after the heros somehow manage to defeat sukuna, he will become the new villain and attempt to activate the merger, completing his character arc by rejecting redemption altogether... "you either die the hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain" type of thing... personally i think there's more foreshadowing and setup that hints toward the villain arc direction given his dad was not just a villain but was also THE villain that gave gojo his awakening AND killed tengens vessel allowing for kenjakus plan for the merger to become possible in the first place, plus megumi has always been mental blocked by his altruistic side and only ever tastes his full potential when embracing a selfish and more degenerate mindset, not to mention his character is clearly inspired by sasuke from naruto which followed a similar villain arc, ect... and i personally think that this direction for the story and the character are the most interesting and make the most sense narratively

Literally two different scenarios. 1. Yuji was actually in the heat of the moment and literally didn’t have time to process Nobara’s death. Megumi literally had a whole month to process Tsumiki death. 2. Yuji not willing to fight Mahito doesn’t mean the end of the world bc Mahito is not even a special grade. Sukuna would end all of humanity if the gang don’t use their only opportunity to stop him. So yes I can complain that Megumi selling the gang but also give Yuji a slap in the back for the predicament he was in 🤨

It is going to take someone Megumi thinks is dead to come back for Megumi to snap out of this. Megumi is the only one who has not met Gojo's expectations yet. It would be nice if Gojo came back just to be there for Megumi and to show him not all is lost. I really want to see the peak of the 10S and only Megumi can do that. Sukuna may have shown us the potential of the 10S or Mahoraga to be exact but Megumi will be the one to show us the completed 10S and DE. I have always said that Yuji has Sukuna's physical strength whereas Megumi has his battle IQ. They NEED each other in this fight. Sukuna's downfall is him underestimating the main cast.
