Meh! Philips 4300 Lattego Super Automatic Coffee Machine Review

It's by no means the worst coffee or worst coffee machine. But I think there are better options out there. That said we'd love to hear YOUR opinion of it!

Delonghi produces a better coffee (although reliability is questionable). Refurbished Jura. Breville (semi automatic). I would look at these first.

Try fresh coffee beans. You should bring your machine to the shop if you are not getting good crema. Mine gives good to great crema and the taste is very good.

It's not a good buy. You're trying to justify your purchase. It produces subpar quality coffee - and THAT"S pointless.

You got to adjust the grind size knob and the aroma setting. It makes a strong shot and a good crema.

I have the 4300 and it makes good crema. Maybe the beans you are using are not freshly roasted. If your machine is new then it needs to go through many cups of coffee to calibrate

Interesting. I apprecaite you commenting. For what its worth our Breville and Delonghi has a vastly superior taste and crema with the same beans we pushed thourgh this 4300.

Your reviews on anything always cut through the BS and I always enjoy that. I have considered a fully automated espresso machine and now will stick to the effort on my DeLonghi dedica style. I would say my coffee has tasted much stronger and more to my taste after trying Lavazza in a hotel. I had a blend previously. When I change I am considering a Smeg espresso machine. Which again sticks to the important task of making a good cup of coffee if you are willing to make a bit of effort. Keep making the videos. I always enjoy your videos on any topic. Let me start with, I like strong coffee. I've had this machine for two days and feel like this is the most honest, and accurate review that I've seen. Thus far, I cannot get this thing to make a nice strong cup of coffee. I'm going to try a few more adjustments but it may be headed back to Amazon.

Yes, but by a marginal amount. I would recommend the Kitchen Aid KF series before this.

Buy the machine i own one what he has said is absolutely out in left field.......buy yourself good beans and enjoy your coffee

This machine is way too much work to maintain considering what you get out of it. I could never get a decent flavorful coffee even with everything set to strong. It was too weak. Also the work involved in keeping it clean and rinsed and descaled and the brew unit greased etc etc etc was way too much. The Lattego unit didnt make fluffy cappuccino froth….it was basically latte level froth. And as you mentioned about the water tank it constantly needs to be refilled because it’s constantly rinsing the machine in a paranoid sort of way…I mean does it need to rinse when turning it off and then rinse again when turning it on again after not actually using it since it was last turned off? Also, the pucks were soup and not pucks so something wasn’t working properly there either.I was glad I kept my nespresso type machine and separate frother so I returned the automatic machine and started using my old machine which is WAY less work and makes a great flavorful coffee every time for a lot less money.

😬 even that shot that you ran through the Breville looks terrible, to me those coffee beans are stale AF. I have a ECM Synchronika and a Breville Bambino Plus both of them produce great crema even with cheap beans like Lavazza but i am planning to replace the Bambino with a super automatic machine for convenience i dont expect it to taste the same but at least decent without having to waste time weighting, grinding, distributing and tamping for each cup of coffee.

What machine would you suggest that is fully automatic (frothing too), self cleaning and no more then $900. I have the 3200 and was thinking of upgrading to the 4200 (I like tech) but if there is something better that matches the same parameters I'd love to know. Or maybe this is the best?

You'll be hard pressed to find something better than this and if you're already used to the coffee quality this creates, I think you'll find this suitable!

Yhe main reason I have a con is that what it grinds is not what you are brewing,you are brewing from about 2 grinds previous.

What do you mean by that? The puck it grinds is the puck it’s brewing off of.

Your spot on the coffee it produces is not all that great. I bought it and use it for a couple of months but it's been sitting unused for her the last year.

Yeah sorry to hear. It's surprising Philips didn't quality test the taste of coffee a little better.

Have you tried the ristretto option with highest coffee amount (10g) and 20 - 25ml water output? That will be more inline with regular espresso recipe. I have seen a lot of reviews referring to the default espresso option and it adds too much water like 1:4 - 5 instead of 1:2 and it will obviously be watery like a lungo

I dont have the machine anymore, but I had tried the Ristretto option when I owned it. I have a friend that still has theirs so I can test drive it again, but I remember not being too impressed with the Ristretto option. @@mariol8831

WOW talk about a Review where a reviewer Is CLUELESS, We can start with his water tank comment, it has enough capacity to make coffee for 4-6 cups depending on your choice, who wants water sitting in a tank for a weeks, the size is perfect. The coffee is hot enough don't listen to this guy. If you are too lazy to check the hopper then you will run out of beans then the machine will intervene. He compares this to Breville you loss credibility at the start you then loss more by comparing that brand to Phillips. The machine has a good crema and he should have mentioned the type of beans you use have an impact on crema..... Too many people getting on You tube professing to be an authority on a topic then put out misinformation. This is a GREAT MACHINE do not listen to this nonsense.

It's not a great machine. Sounds like you bought one and are justifying your bad purchase. There are better automatics out there, including, but not limited to, the Kitchen Aid KF7. Disclaimer: I'm the super authority on coffee. Source: Trust me bro.
