Choking back the tears. Came across this AGAIN tonight, brought back memories of my Dad practicing in the bath... as many did. 22 years without you Dad. Never more than a breath away. Brought up in Rhymney valley in a time when English language was thought superior. I don't speak Welsh... But Diolch TMVC for my best memories!!!... and just to say ... the 73 recording was is and will be forever the best!

What a beautiful song. I hope Wales one day wake up to their roots and heritage once again. I hope the young people of wales never forget the great commission our Lord Jesus has commanded us. You do not know how us, in the third world countries have Jesus because of Wales missionaries. J.H. Lorrain and F.W. Savidge will be remembered for thousand years to come. For Millions have been saved because of the good people of Wales and Robert Arthington's generous funding a century ago.

I am an Irish Roman Catholic living in Wales. I have learned Welsh and the words of the first few verses of this wonderful Methodist hymn have become a part of my life both at home and when I am going up to receive Holy Communion at Mass. It is a prayer - and a hymn - for all seasons and for all denominations.

"I Am Coming, Lord" (first line "I hear Thy welcome voice") was written and composed by Lewis Hartsough (1828-1919), of Epworth, Iowa, in 1872. Ira D. Sankey soon popularized this invitation song in the U.K., where John Roberts (a.k.a. Ieuan Gwyllt) rendered the lyrics into Welsh as GWAHODDIAD (Welsh for "invitation"). For the strong hymn tradition held in common by all British peoples and their counterparts in North America and everywhere else that heritage has gone, to God be the glory.

The faith in our Lord Jesus Christ is what drives these male Welsh choirs. Single minded faith in the Saviour causes the Holy Spirit to descend, and fruits are the wonderful hymn. The world promotes Glastonbury Godlessness. But right living bears fruit in wonderful songs of Praise and celebration. Keep going for Jesus.

I was born a Welshman with music in my heart. Alas I spent most of my life in England but when I reached retirement age I decided to return to my city of birth. I have no family or close friends so this seemed a good move for my twilight years. How wrong I was. I so wanted to belong to Wales. Perhaps I should have gone to Welsh Wales instead of the city. I lasted two years before I moved on. Wales will always flow through my veins and music like this stirs my soul.

Words in English - I hear Thy welcome voice, That calls me, Lord, to Thee, For cleansing in Thy precious blood That flowed on Calvary. I am coming, Lord. Coming now to Thee: Wash me, cleanse me in the blood That flowed on Calvary. Though coming weak and vile, Thou dost my strength assure; Thou dost my vileness fully cleanse, Till spotless all, and pure. ’Tis Jesus who confirms The blessed work within, By adding grace to welcomed grace, Where reigned the power of sin. And He the witness gives To loyal hearts and free, That every promise is fulfilled, If faith but brings the plea. All hail, redeeming blood! All hail, life-giving grace! All hail, the gift of Christ our Lord, Our strength and righteousness.

I love the sound, the harmony of Welsh Male Voice Choir singer - but why spoil the sound with a piano or organ playing the same time ? they are not needed. I head a unaccompanied Welsh Mail Voice Choir sing at Gatwick Airport on a warm Autumn evening as they waited for their flight to be announced - the whole airport stopped to listen to this beautiful sound that carried throughout the airport - this was in the 1980's when the Airport wasn't so large - people were reduced to tears listening to the beautiful songs and when they finished there was massive applause and thanks to them for singing. ah what beautiful memories :)

I thought perhaps Bryn Terfel was the one but no he was more than a good few eccles cakes short of the "Man in Black".Just think what such a find could do for Welsh nationalism.I shall NEVER give up...
