I like your point about getting the point set up for you to even take the “easy” ball. It’s all about perspective!

Exactly to the point, all three are happening to me. Very good that you point them out so that we manage to understand that this is normal for recreational players and not get crazy about the amazing and so demanding sport of tennis. And regarding the first point, as my coach used to tell me "there is no easy point". I understood this the hard way

Thank you so much for this content, Meike. I am trying to embody/practice these principles every time I take the court. It's hard but worth it.

I remember playing dubs in a tournament a few years ago. We were down 5 -0 and love 40🤪 we fought back and won 7-5😎. The best match of my life. I was probably 63 at the time. Conditioning and mental toughness pays off.

Yup. I tend to get really fatigued in the second set and my mind starts to tell me “finish the point early” “get it done”. But I think that’s where I fail. I gotta love the rally and build the points. Am I on the right track?

Yes, you are. And I hate to say that but you'd also need to work on conditioning then. It's going to give you a huge confidence boost if you know that you can out-work people in a 3 hour match.

Great video. Should the foot be on toes & palms at all time during play for fast movement? Are there instances where it is better to have the whole foot heel to toe on the ground for stability?

Way above my pay grade but a good psych lesson for people who have graduated to playing for points. 😎

I was serving at 5-1 and lost 7-5 in a first set recently. And I think we’ve all had matches where we won the first set 6-0 then the opponent became a new player in the second set. How do you deal with the frustration and problem solving when you feel like your opponent ups their level and starts making lots of shots that they “shouldn’t” or at least they weren’t earlier in the match?

I think in that situation it's all about accepting that you now have to just work a lot harder for your points. It doesn't mean that you necessarilyb have to change your game (which is what a lot of players do and that facilitates their loss bc they panicked). You basically want to "gut-check" your opponent and see if they can keep up that "new" tempo over 3 sets when you don't gift them a single point.

@@MeikeBabelTennisgreat point. I was super discouraged after losing 2 points in a 5-6 scenario playing IMO the best two points of the match. Down 0-30 and heart rate super high. Thankfully I heard some uptempo music in the background and found some joy and comfort to settle into thst intensity and tempo level. said F it let’s at least go down swinging and see if opponent can run with us cause I can keep this up. Ended up winning the game in 4 points. Unravelled In the tiebreaker though but was that first time I challenged myself to commit and outwork the opponent. Gut check the, essentially. Will see if I can carry thst forward more consistently
