So does Meiko actually speak English or just a few words? Still more than I do Japanese after being there six times. I remember being in Fukuoka once outside a car display room that had a poster of Korean pop star Boa with Honda’s Asimo robot. I could not communicate with people there where and when that was very frustrating. No translation apps then.

The Japanese wiki stated that she is retired from music industry at 1992 in New York, with no known activities or public appearance. Knowing that her real name is Akiko Obara, maybe she's back using that name now. And to think that, since many famous person get tired of fame sometimes, she could decided to throw it all away and live a quiet, peaceful life.
