I soooooo love the artwork on this! Bravo Celine! 👏 Can’t wait to try a sample. I’m finding Sheng, particularly newish Sheng a little bit tough on the stomach. I wonder how this one lands?

I don't believe this is being reviewed without the Pu'Boys. They will be devastated that they have been dropped from reviews of their specialty.

I’ve only had one autumn harvest tea before, an old white ya bao. It’s one of my favourite teas of all time. I’m really tempted to try this one

Thanks for describing your tea buzz. It's a conversation on a topic I find fascinating after my own "cha qi" experience. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻❤❤❤❤

I have only tasted one pu'erh and I don't know if it represents anything as I really wanted to try it out. The one I found was in loose leaf format and it tasted like fish oil, was this just a really bad one or do they have very weird flavors?

Bad puerh is often referred to as being fishy so most likely you got some low quality tea. Don't give up on puerh but you may not like it. I mean I much prefer sheng puerh to shou but I can drink the fermented stuff in the fall. Lol

Was probably a ripe puerh. A lot of people refer to that as "wet pile taste". Wet piling is just part of the process in making ripe puerh. It doesn't necessarily indicate quality and it can dissipate with age but also some people are extra sensitive to that taste. If you want something more like that was described in this video, look for raw puerh.

That definitely sounds like a bad puerh. (More precisely sounds like a bad "ripe puerh"). Raw, especially when fresh/younger, will also have a very different taste. If price is ever a concern, go for samples wherever you buy first: if you end up liking it, then you can decide on a full order. It can end up saving in the long run rather than spending money on something that isn't to your taste.

Its not related to this tea, but I have been eyeing Hip Cuddler for a while, sadly there are no samplers like you have with everything else. Is there any change for it? Based on my experience it is better to try before buying a whole cake or stick (in this case). Thanks. :-)

In my 8 years of gongfu cha I've never felt any effect of tea (beyond good flavour). The Chinese romanticizing about body sensations is cute but perhaps the world's biggest placebo. My tea friends say they do feel a slight sensation but always the same and never anything worth paying attention to. There is a possibility they people have a very different number of receptors to which caffeine binds. I seems to have non at all, coffee/mate/guaraná are the same, no effect ever.

I do get a real calming effect with ripe puerhs and the gaba oolongs. Some more than others. And I get a similar but slightly more energized feeling with raw puerhs. It’s not a very pronounced feeling but it’s there. I felt it before I knew it was a thing. Now I’m kind of waiting for it so there might be a placebo effect but I don’t get it with all tea. It’s never anything very dramatic with me though

Seen plenty of people appear to feel it but can only be sure of myself--I had to drink at least 7 infusions of raw puerh before I experienced anything like 'tea drunkenness' and I hated it because I got nervous and light-headed as well. Once was after a painful injury and did experience reduction in pain. The sensation was strong enough for me to wonder if it should be a controlled substance, and the relative uniqueness/unexpectedness of the experience makes me pretty confident it wasn't placebo. Much prefer the grounded, calm alertness from ripe puerhs.

Just because you don't feel it doesn't mean it isn't a real thing. Everything affects everyone differently. I've seen some people get super "tea drunk" without even knowing it's a thing. I tend to just get a super heavy feeling in my body and I don't feel energized or anything as I handle caffeine extremely well. Others I know don't feel anything at all just like you. No reason to pooh pooh others experiences just because yours is different

Then why do you drink tea, for taste only? What a joke. I was drinking 4 infusions of gushu raw puerh yesterday and that was enough to lift me up from the ground about 10cm. Good white tea gives you a feeling of relaxation and resembles weed condition (from very far). Try ~7g of Da Hong Pao in thermos (99C water and let it cook for 1-2 hours) - so powerful effect that even whiskey can't break it. I tried half a bottle and still nothing from alcohol.

@@dcrabbin I'm wondering how it's possible that you (and many others) experience opposite effects depending on the tea type? Caffeine is always the same substance on a molecular level. That's part of the reason why I'm suspicious of the whole thing. What do you make of that?
