Well, Persians can't clean themselves either, they have to have regular groomer visits. Hairless cats also can't clean themselves and need to be bathed at least weekly. Hand dog comes with bad quality of life bc it has to walk on hands, which is not what human hands are meant for, so it will undoubtedly have serious health problems in the near future.

If face cat had the face of my favorite celebrity/influencer, I would love face cat very much. Plus I would love a cat that could talk back _so_ much. It’s like a free friend who is forced to listen to and respond to your rambles. Bonus points if it’s a sphinx cat because I think having a human face poking out of the fur and/or covered in fur would be so uncomfortable to see. Either way hand dog is terrifying to me, human hands do _not_ go on dog, that’s literally so scary. What truly scares me is the innocence of the dog paired with the horrors that have been forever inflicted on it. I know for a fact I would feel immense guilt everyday of my life for bringing it into the world to suffer.

Consider: Dogs, expecially Goldens as dispalyed in the animation, are needy and stronger than they look. Imagine a dog with hands holding on to you, not letting you go, wanting you to stay and play ball, petting you back, touching you weirdly because is dog and has no sense of where not to touch. I would much rather have an independend cat with a face even if that could talk. I imagine it like the CGI faces in Cats so that it is not just a fleshy skin face but rather a furry face. I would be fine with that more than with a needy, touchy, space invading hand-dog

Having a cat with a human face would be somewhat traumatic, I'm sure, but getting to have a pet who can speak is great. Although realistically, if it's also still just a cat, it will still have cat-level intelligence, so it will either have toddler speech (no. Mine. Food. Door.) or just "meow" or primal screeches that mean something to the cat brain. Though he said it can speak, which I will take to mean it at least has toddler speech, and since this is a magical hypothetical situation in which a cat has a human face, I choose to believe it can communicate in full sentences to me. Add to it being a cat, and yeah, cat with human face wins over dog. Though, raccoons are basically cats with hands, and I love raccoons. The dog thing isnt too far off... but again no, dogs are too hyper, would definitely get into the cabinets and peanutbutter and break into the neighbors house

I think I'd go with facecat because looking weird is easier to deal with than something that can open doors, gates and lids. Handdog is a lot more like dealing with a 2-year-old except instead of mentally aging as it gets older, it just learns how to undo childproof locks. It becomes an cat and mouse game of replacing locks vs. solving locks.

As someone who had a period in life where my maternal parental unit was fostering tikes, I know there are like a billion implements with the sole purpose of "childproofing" your house because the foster people required it. Just "childproof" your house, buy gloves for your dog so they can comfortably-ish walk around without TOO much issue, and keep everything potentially ingestible really high up. Boom, now you don't have to live in the Cats (2019) movie. I'm not quite sure that dogs would have too much of an existential crisis over having human hands. Hand dog has more of a chance at developing arthritis, carpal tunnel and other hand injuries/conditions. Imagine if hand dog stepped on glass- for paws its already so painful, but a hand bearing the weight of an at least 50 pound pup getting pierced by glass is gonna be awful. I love dogs- knowing that hand dog wouldnt go out of its way to terrorize me would be a relieving thought. I could get a nice shoulder massage. They can help me open pickle jars too. Work gloves would be necessary for walking your hand dog or even just protecting their skin...but even that comes with drawbacks. However...face cat...I keep thinking about its human eyes glowing in the dark beside my door, it asking me my name, for food, letting me know its litter box needs a change. Considering cats also go crazy around 3 AM I'd be terrified. But..if face cat wanted to cuddle and be there for me when im sad, i wouldnt mind it. Acne is something to worry about and idk if they vomit hair balls considering they cant groom with their human tongues. So grooming and skin care would be the owners responsibility. Plus? They can wear makeup ;).

Hand dog would be a nightmare to live with but it still has the heart of a dog, so it's good by nature, no threats. Face cat would also be good by nature but my God it would look like a demon

does cat with human face start with an infant's face and if so, does the face age at a normal human rate (i.e. if the cat lives to 20, it'll have the face of a 20 year old human) or does it age at the rate of the rest of the cat's body (like with the concept of dog years)?

Hand dog would be a holy terror on your kitchen but with rigorous training it could be the best companion ever. It can let its self out when it needs to go and close doors, it can learn sign language, it can wear shoes, it can help the disabled, but if it’s a dumb dog or one that’s never going to listen then I gotta pick face cat.
