I don't care about her pronunciation and I certainly don't want vulnerability in this song - that's definitely not what it's about. It's about passion, boldness, sexual confidence, and humor. Rachelle Rak nailed every one. Spectacularly.

for those who haven't seen the film or play, the character singing this song is an American whose German isn't very good to begin with, and it stands to reason that she would perform the song with a sexy American accent versus an accurate German one. So don't let the words cloud the message and enjoy the song! excellent work imho

The key problem is that the "er" sound in "lieber" should actually be quite similar to the "err" sound in "Herr" - the latter is in colloquial speech just a bit shorter, snappier, here on the other hand, they are SUPPOSED to play on each other. So if she gets the second right (or reasonably well), it's somewhat strange to get an almost identical sound so distorted.

I'm studying this musical in college at the moment, and my lecturer showed our class Rachelle's performance first before showing us Liza's. Both are fantastic performances and Rachelle should be praised for her take on the song.

If people don't mind me say so. Bob Fosse were really a man who understand how to appreciate womens sexiness probably. I mean, Hollywood mainstream is filled with sad men who pops hot women in everywhere and idolises them, Bob Fosse was probably pretty obsessed by women also, it happens with some men. but he presented their sexuality and a mans obsession with them in a way that genuinely is sexy and I can appreciate and deal with. just watch "All That Jazz" if you want to understand what I mean

You say that like some broadway productions don’t get incinerated compared to movie version because they need to stick to the source material for “consistency”. Actually, this choreography is not adapted from the Broadway musical. It is the choreography of the movie. Fosse, unfortunately, did not choreograph the stage musical.

She's got some amazing pipes, but I have to admit, I immediately reject any attempt at singing Sally Bowles without an English accent. In spite of the hack job the movie did on the story causing the world to believe the contrary, Sally Bowles is supposed to be English and the main protagonist, Cliff btw not Brian, is American.

This isn't a night club act but a Broadway show, ''Fosse,'' which was brilliant as were Rak and the six dancers behind her doing the original Fosse choreography. As for rival performances, Richardson can't sing or dance as well as Rak, Minelli can't dance at all and has zero sex appeal, which Rak has in spades.

We must know that Liza WAS NOT The original Sally Bowles and shouldn't be a standard (i'm not too fond of her myself). I personally think this is a much better performance and is more suited for the stage where as Liza's performance was best for the movie
