Weird analogy, but Spaven drums the way Mos Def raps. Both have such an innate sense of rhythm, never losing the 1, they can demonstrate a vocabulary (literally in Mos Def's case) that just expands upon itself. It's like he is weaving rhythmic motifs within one another, letting them unravel and knot back together as naturally as breathing. It's really awe inspiring, the way he plays. Open and compressed simultaneously? I don't know how to describe. He is blowing my mind.
