I am myself an Ivorian and a member of the AKAN group, been to Ghana many times and I know how close we are. To all my Ghanian brothers claiming that Meiway is a Ghanaian, please you all should understand that Akan People are not only in Ghana. Our ancestors flee Ghana to settle in parts of what is Ivory Coast now due to war centuries ago before colonization. So yes, we are all Akan but due to colonization some of us are Akan from Ivory Coast, some from Ghana, some from Togo etc. Meiway is a N'Zema and an Ivorian.

Nzema people are not only ghanean but can also be Ivorian even Togolese like he explained. This is just a sample of our Akan funerals. Our funerals are always huge. Akan funeral celebrations last at least 3 days and could even take more than a week depending on the social rank of the deceased. By the way, when an adult Akan dies, his/her body is preserved at the morgue for about 30 days before burial takes place. We do that to allow the deceased's relatives and loved ones all over the world, time to prepare and attend. For instance, if you live in Finland and your mom passes away in Cote d'Ivoire or Ghana, one month is enough for you to get your immigration documents ready and fly home. And yes, you MUST attend your mom's funeral. If you have to borrow money to go bury your mom, you must do so. When my mom and dad died in almost 3 years interval, I had to go. I miss them so much... That is Akan culture for you! Rich and deep!

My mother is of Aduana(Bono), father Anyi. Raised by my Anyi grandmother(R.IP) and i speak the language which is related to the Nzema, Baoule,Samwi/Sefwi,Ahanta, Brosa, Aowin, Dennie, Anyi-Djuablin, Anufo(N. Reg. Gh.) Chokosi(N. Reg. Gh.) Tchakossi(Benin Rep.) and some others which i can not recall. I love Ivorien music and the country with heart. Some of my Anyi family in Cote d'ivoire live in the Comoe region which is the closest to Ghana. WE ARE ONE BIG FAMILY including with all the Akans.🇨🇮🇬🇭

This is Nzema language subgroup of Akan. Akan consist of different groups. We have same culture and most groups speak the same languages but ascents differ a little bit. Some of the words differ as well. Akans are found in Ghana and Ivory Coast. Akan consist of Asante, Akuapem, Akwamu, Kwahu, Akyem, Agona, Wassa, Fante, and Bono. Subgroups of the Bia-speaking groups include the Anyin, Baoulé, Chakosi (Anufo), Sefwi (Sehwi), Nzema, Ahanta, and Jwira-Pepesa.
