My wife is 25 and collecting this line, she doesn't have any real attachment to MOTU, just a really badass toyline. Origins is the best Retro type line to come out in my opinion.

I have this in my pile of loot at BBTS. Mekaneck’s club is a telescope. I never knew that until recently. I loved the Road Ripper as a kid! Great review!

i believe these 2 were paired together because they appeared that way in the sears and jc penny catalog in the 80s so this set is a throwback to that

I understand not adding Mekanecks action feature. Including it would really mess up the continuity of the Origins aesthetic. But the Ripper really needed the action feature. Especially since it doesn't require any fancy electronics or springs. It's not like the Dragon Walker. A rip cord is just a piece of plastic that has teeth on it that pull the teeth on a wheel to make it spin fast. They could have easily included that.

They shoukd have made a blue collectors version of the Road Ripper too. On that is attachable to the Battle Ram where the Skysled goes. The Playability goes up 4 notches by that :)

I love all the vehicles for Origins so far, except for the Landshark! Only because Mattel messed up on where they placed the hand control grips. I returned it and got my money back. ha ha I was too fussy on how it looked without a figure not being able to hold on to the controls. 😁

Yeah I got him through BBTS just the other week. I do like the figure and vehicle. I don't understand the alternative head either because the one on it is what the original had.

I’m totally with you on Mekaneck. Like Rattlor and Tung Lashor, the figures just don’t have that same nostalgia factor without their iconic action features. I’m collecting these to play with my kid when he gets old enough; not having those original action features (or even reworked ones) takes away from the uniqueness of each character, especially when they’re incorporated into the names: Stinkor…needs to stink (which at least he still does to an extent); Tung Lashor…needs to lash his tongue; Mekaneck…needs to extend his neck. That being said, I don’t have an issue with the rip cord not being used for the Ground Ripper. Although it would have been nice, I don’t remember always using it for the vintage vehicle either. Works just fine with or without it, in my opinion. P.S. My wife loved Gwar too!

Did Mattel lose the rights to the name "Road Ripper" or something? That seems to be the most common reason for name changes like this.

Road ripper should have paired up with a palace guards I know I would have got 3 or 4 sets. Mekaneck should have been sold separately.

I'm surprised Mattel releases vehicles/playsets for MOTU in today's age. I wonder why Hasbro doesn't release more for the GI Joe Classified line being they are pretty much the same scale as MOTU Origins figures.

I never had the "ground" ripper as a kid, so it's just not nostalgic for me but I loved Mekaneck so when I saw this at Target last week it was an instant buy for me. I think for me it's mostly the red and blue of his uniform, probably gives me Superman vibes or something, but I definitely enjoyed playing with the original figure as a kid and the classics one is one of the few of those I own too
