Blaming him for being injured, being upset about being misused, and doing whatever he can to salvage his career is EMBARRASSINGLY ignorant, self-absorbed, and delusional. Prime example of why people who care more about their team than the sport of football shouldn’t be allowed to post public sports opinions🤦‍♂️

@@fakename5308 nobody blamed anybody or is upset, you’re just putting your spin on someone else’s words. That is his situation, my fandom is based on my situation. Just because our teams don’t line up doesn’t mean I wish him ill will, I just don’t wish him the best. WHO WOULD?!? Thats kinda the whole point of being a fan is that you ONLY have the fandom. We’re not players or coaches or owners who have to have a professional loyalty to the game. You notice he doesn't have any problem playing wherever the eagle ask him to play with the Jets he felt entitled, he had those injuries plus he had the weight problems too and he felt he should only play left tackle and they eventually gave him that opportunity last year and he was terrible at it in a contact year at some point he is gonna have to look at himself in the mirror and take some of blame for is performance! Becton was an obese bust. The pick was a collosal disaster. The pick always was Wirfs. Only the JETS could blow it.

The big difference about his experience in Philly so far likely lies within his own mindset. He didnt have a lot of offers and knows he needs to be open to whatever playing opportunity becomes open for him there. Whether that be G or T. He expected to be an LT with the Jets and getting moved to RT is what soured his attitude. His own expectations in NY are what hurt him.

Unfortunately we had Becton during his adjustment-immature period into the NFL. He made serious money and didn’t take care of his body-diet. He went over 400 lbs! Not the Jets fault. I’m sure it was frustrating for the coaches. Hopefully he’s in a better headspace now

I think the Jets screwed him over and I also think he screwed himself over. The two don't have to be mutually exclusive. That 1st injury is a freak accident, no one to blame. That 2nd knee injury - he let himself get out of shape and being nearly 400lbs probably didn't help with a recovering knee but also the Jets foolishly moved him to RT, stressing that repaired knee even more. His 4th year, Saleh tells him to "earn it" for the LT spot. He comes in the lightest he's ever been at the pro level, participates all throughout training camp but they give Duane Brown - a 40yr old coming off shoulder surgery who did practically nothing at training camp - the LT spot. Becton performs terribly but he also had one of the most disliked and arguably ineffective line coaches trying to help him. Fact is - both sides screwed up. I'm glad Becton got another shot, I hope he carves out a long career and I'm also happy that the Jets improved the line.

Not every player makes it with the team that drafted them. Plunkett failed with two teams before leading the Raiders to a SB. Daryl Lamonica was drafted by Buffalo and didn't hit his stride until after the trade to the Raiders.

Saw this title and thought “Here we go, the moment we’ve all been waiting for” 😂 thankfully it seems like nothing but positive vibes. Happy the Jets moved off of Becton; his injury history, his prior attitude problems, and just the clearly rocky relationship between him and the coaches definitely soiled the well. I don’t hold any real ill will towards him, (unless/until he starts legitimately shit talking the Jets on a future podcast) hopefully he’s learned some lessons and can have a productive career from here on out.

One of my biggest heartbreaks in my 47 years of rooting for the Jets. Sometimes you don’t get what you dream of. He was perfect coming out of college. That first year was everything a jets fan could hope for. Then, in an instant ….. it was over. He returned a shell of what he was. He is damaged goods and I really think the Eagles will realize early on, what they wasted 5.5 million dollars on. He can’t play hurt. He is not a warrior. I don’t think he will make it through training camp. Just look at his roots. Foooooooood!!! I reward this regime for being overly patient with him, 20 years ago he would have been kicked to the curb the minute he got hurt the second time, not alone the third. I do wish him luck in life because he seems like a really cool dude, but pro football is not his thing.

For a big guy he never seems to square-up on his man, he locks his arms out with this hands together in the center of the opponent's chest as the passrusher speedrushes around him and at a certain point he loses leverage and gets over-extended and the attacker is in your QB's face. Great big body with really bad technique.

You shouldn't, dude apparently had an ego problem before realizing his is on possibly his last chance, and Jeff Stoutland is a phenomenal o-line coach that can turn a never played American football guy into a pro-bowl alternate LT (Mailata). Eagles media asked Becton if he would have played guard for the Jets, he said "no", but is now willing to for the Eagles. Sometimes a players ego needs to be checked and it's not the teams fault. Chris Carter from the Eagles to the Vikings is a great example.
