FFXIV OST Odin Theme / Urth's Fount ( The Corpse Hall )

Whew, this one took a lot of camping in the Shroud. Clip of the abysmal Odin Fate with all but the BGm muted. The track is called The Corpse Hall and can be found in game and on the latest OST from Square Enix. As of patch 2.5 this track can also be found in the Urth's Fount trial against Odin.
Also as of 2.5 is used as the BGM for the primal battle vs. Odin.

You know, thinking on it, Odin might just be the most powerful primal of them all. Every single primal we've ever gone up against could be defeated by eight people. Odin takes an entire army. And doesn't even have worshipers.

Zantetsuken is almost certainly the primal; as for its follower(s), that would be a crazy idea that (warriors, gladiators, anyone wielding a bladed implement to do violence) is a follower/worshipper for Zantetsuken/Odin, even unwittingly or during a period when the blade doesn't currently have a thrall riding, clad in sable armor, astride Sleipnir.

Considering in actual mythology Odin is the Norse equivalent of Zeus in power (minus the sexual promiscuity) it would make sense that his FFXIV counterpart is one of the strongest Eikons.

I wish they would bring these types of FATEs back. Wandering through the Black Shroud and it suddenly changing into that misty twilight atmosphere when Odin was approaching was awesome. It also got the community together. Hunts are cool and all, but there was something special about Odin and King Behemoth.

Problem is he is left behind since he's no longer relevant and since almost everyone got the glamour from him, no one is going to fight him anymore. Even when he was relevant, sooooo many players would zerg him that there'd be a ton of lag.

Just watched this video again. Odin still is and always will be the "let the bodies hit the floor" king. No S Rank hunt even comes close. Odin is just a beast; leveling people in one or two hits, even tanks. And yes, I can see he was level 57. But still. I think he'd still be a challenge for well geared people.

Yeah, it's a shame there's not really any equivalent in Heavensward, and that the rewards are just so meh that fighting him more than a few times doesn't really garner any benefit, even glamours.

I'd like to see a second Odin FATE that drops the items for the Lv.50 stuff, with new Lv.60 stuff added. Odin's awesome enough to be the perfect thing to keep an eye out for while you wait on new patches/expansions to come out.

One time I was doing randomly an instance to level up my Blackmage. Once I've beaten said instance I got respawned back at the eastern Black Shroud near the Sylphlands where I was before entering the instance. I've read about Odin as a FATE boss a little and was aware that he might spawn one day. The bigger the surprise where I spawned back, I stood on the middle of Steel Reign FATE - unpulled. Only seeing 2 guys talking, one saying he/she informs south. I stood there for few moments realizing it was actually that FATE I was reading about. Few minutes later the place was crowded with around 50 people or maybe more and we all started fighting Odin. Died a lot but we were able to complete it and getting Gold. That was truly lucky and an experience...

I just started playing FFXIV a few weeks ago, I was at level 48 doing side quests when I saw a cute mob with the name "Odin", I thought to myself: why is there a mob with this name? Isn't this supposed to be in a dungeon? And then I got closer, to no one surprise, I got one shoted, then I came back to the same place and there was a lot of people fighting it, it was so awesome to see... I saw this thing all by myself out of nowhere and then there was an army fighting it. I'm really loving the game just got to HS.

I just had a thought: You know what would be an amazing in-canon battle? Odin VS. Ravana. I wonder who would win. Probably Odin since, as else someone already pointed out, all the primals take no more than 8 players to fell but Odin takes on an entire *army* of demi-god player characters, each with the awesome power of being the game's protagonist, and often _wins._ Actually, scratch that. You know what would make an awesome optional trial? A full 24-player alliance versus Odin _and_ Ravana at the same time. Man, I can taste the salt already.

Well, as we know, Odin isn't actually the primal, but a tempered vessel. Zentetsuken is the real primal, and it doesn't even need worshippers to reappear. So Odin would probably win against Ravana, hands down.

As an elder primal I hope odin gets alot more lore than the rest. I got theory that in the future odin fight the players ask him what his beast tribe is. Where odin reply's "you are adventurer, it is mankind that summon me to quench their thirst for battle! mwhaha" Now thats a plot twist. Makes sense too, who battles in ff14 more than the player themselfs?

Elder primals don't have a beast tribe. That's because Elder primals are unlike other primals: they don't NEED a beast tribe--They are self existent beings. They CAN be summoned, defeated, and come back after being defeated but unlike normal primals they don't need prayers to exist or continue existing. That being said... your answer is somewhat correct: Odin is the primal of Twilight. He appears at the end of something. The Allagan took his presence as a sign that the Allagan Empire would soon fall and thus Urth (possibly the last of the Allagan) sealed him in Urth's gift in a vain attempt to prevent the fall and destruction of the Allagan empire. The sealing of Odin was neither relevant (the Allagan Empire fell anyway) nor permanant (as Odin eventually escaped). He comes to herald the (eventual) end of all things... and during the Steel Reign FATE... he comes to herald the end... of YOU.

Charles Hammond Jr Elder primals are simply primals that have been known to exist far longer than the current ones, they used to have worshipers of their own that simply died out. Bahamut was worshiped by the Meracydian tribe of dragons. (who the remainder of are imprisoned with in dalamud by the allag to keep bahamut summoned.)

Honestly a great fight that can teach people a few good mechanics. Even with a raid party of level 70 players still have trouble with this fight and I think that's why it's still one of my favourites. A bit more thrilling than Behemoth as well.

You must be on a much smaller server, because when this happens in Balmung, you can't see Odin. Not because server limitations, but because he is being swarmed by people and spells.

On Gilgamesh, I was watching an Odin fight (I'm only level 30, mind) and I could see him clearly. Needless to say, the people there got to Zantetsuken and all died. Too many healers, not enough DPS. Fun to watch, though.

Actually on ps4 and pc the issue with odin being plain invisible should be gone, even the ps3 players should be able to see him most of the time. In the case of spells making him not see able you can turn the extra effects off.

7 years later, doing it unsynced for glams, I can positively say the trial odin still hits like a truck, even with 100k+ HP lol. The music is so bomb though, I wish he was a wee more relevant to get an updated trial.

Was anyone around to do the Collab event in PSO2 that had this guy as the boss at the end of the Limited Quest? That was fun. I wish he was a bit harder though, he was so easy, even on Extra Hard. I do love it when he randomly spawns as a boss in the Free Roam on occasions though, as rare as he is.

So what is this boss' schtick? Obviously as he's Odin, I'm assuming he brought Zantetsuken into FFXIV, so he can one-shot attackers.

When he's with low HP he starts to cast Zantetsuken. If he's not defeated before the casting is finished, he kills everyone and then disappears.

sefirot45 Gotcha. I also notice all those Gungnirs on the battleground, and that people usually peel off for those immediately. Why is it necessary to break those spears?

Also: Odin's Frontal Cleve AOE does about 20k in damage. How is someone supposed to survive that? The damage is split between all people it hits. So you need a mass of people (mostly tanks hopefully) to spread that damage around. Hope you have multiple parties full of tanks though: everyone who gets hit also gets a vulnerability up debuff!

Looking for HONEST opinions. I have began the free trial and have played a few hours and am level 7. So far I have just been running back and forth across areas doing small quests (kill x ladybugs, get 5 blood, find crates, etc). Is there a point where the game really starts to pick up or is it more of doing fetch-type quests forever with a few big boss battles? Any detailed feedback would be greatly appreciated (I don't want to spend $15/ month on fetch quests).

Initially you don't have very many options for how you level, and you're sort of locked into the fetch quests and a few of the FATEs that pop up around the same areas (which are preferable). When you hit ~level 15 though you'll be able to enter your first dungeon and the game is radically different. If you level with a nice mix of FATEs/dungeons the whole levelling process is increidbly enjoyable. You'll gradually unlock more of your class' potential and hone your skills with progressively more difficult dungeons. Other than main scenario quests and class specific quests, when you hit level 50 you won't be doing very many quests, you can do dungeons, raids or trials (which are big boss battles) all through the duty finder. Combat isn't the be all and end all of FFXIV either. The crafting classes are classes by themselves with their own skills/gears, gathering too. There's a whole ton of mini-games (the card game triple triad and the chocobo racing, which is very much like Mario Cart were just added in recently). Obviously I'm a little biased cause I love the game, but I would say stick it out, the game definitely becomes more than fetch quests. If you don't like it at the end of your free trial at least you'll know for sure that it isn't the game for you. Hope I helped and have fun!

here is an honest pinion from some one who has been playing since beta the first 15 lvs suck for EVERYONE...regardless of how skilled they are or what job they are but as stated in one of the above posts if you can ride it out till 15 the game has a massive flow change (till about 40) and while the pre 40 story quests can feel like the drag in some spots its well worth it when you get to the "Darvinian Horde" stuff as its interesting and rather fast paced....and once you get to 50 and start doing endgame and start of the lv 50 story it will have all be worth it trust me ^^ (hope this helps a little)

Flameblade10 For me every leveling in almost every game sucks till the end. This game really shines when it comes to boss battles, environment and battle music. :) Thats what keeps me playing it. That moment when Melusine petrifies the whole group and you can hear the heartbeat because everyone in the raid hopes that they will survive the upcoming 10-20 seconds of petrification is priceless.

SquareTales yeah i love the endgame myself remember the good old days when Petra on Mel meant inta death....i mean it can still get you killed Peta can easily serve up the MT and a DPS or two to the boss but yeah i can see that in some MMOs is insanely boring(leveling up) and sadly 14 has its moments as well but getting to do endgame makes it all worth it ^^

At the start of A Realm Reborn Odin was only a fate, which is what's shown in the video. In patch 2.4 (I think) he got his own trial instance. SO, Odin now has both this fate and his own trial.

Daniel Rodriguez Odin's level goes up every time he is defeated and when he wins his level goes down. I've seen him as low as level 54 and high as level 60.

I wonder how you achieve such fluidity. Whenever I attempted him the bazillion people flying around made me lag so bad that I could hardly cast a single spell. It would make for a very cool fight if it weren't an open-world event. That totally ruins it.
