Tourists have this idea that hostels are cheap and hotels are expensive, so when they come to Vietnam they often choose hostels where they share a room with 5-10 other people assuming they saved money, when the costs of those hostels are parallels to decent 2-3 stars hotels that offer you your own room .

I'm surprised that no previous commenter has pointed out that the reason why that 'Mango' is so big is that it's actually a Papaya (Carica papaya), and not a Mango (Mangifera indica). Papayas are somewhat melon like fruits that form near the growing tip of a woody stemmed plant with foliage somewhat resembling that of cultivated Figs (Ficus carica). The plant is unbranched unless the growing tip is removed or destroyed, and the fruits contain numerous black seeds in the center when ripe. The plant originated in the New World tropics, but most commercial cultivation is now in Asia. An enzyme in Papaya, Papain, is the main active ingredient in most meat tenderizers. Mangos originated in tropical Asia, and are not related to Papayas. They are members of the Cashew family (Anacardiaceae), which includes such allergenic plants such as Poison Ivy, Poison Sumac, Black Lacquer Tree, and Brazilian Pepper Tree. Mangoes generally contain a single pit instead of the numerous small seeds of Papayas. They often trigger allergic reactions when eaten in excess, or when individuals become sensitized to their flowers, sap, foliage or fruits. They are also laxative to many people, and eating Papaya with Mango helps prevent this. Mango trees branch readily and leaves are lanceolate and normally are dark shiny green.

When I lived in Bangkok everyone wore mask and this was 2018-2019 it’s mainly because of the smog. So it’s the norm there even before the rona.

Do any guides make any references to the Vietnam War? Has that topic dropped off?
@JackTorr2 жыл бұрын
They do. My guide from my Tunnel video actually was in the war. The topic is still very strong in this country.
