Randy Watson Errrr......no. I'm a guitarist and The Edge is using his Wah pedal during the verses because that's the composition of the song. You can see him play the song in the same way during their Popmart Tour of '97.
@jmgtma7 жыл бұрын
that´s what I meant. he´s using his expression pedal in this case not for wah. should be some sort of pitch shifting effect otherwise the verse would sound more like mysterious ways. at least it´s the way I used to play this song .. I tried to recreate the sound in the verse with pitch shifting and it worked out really well for me back then.

I would say to probably about 85% of bands that have ever existed, this would be the greatest song ever written. But these guys have so many hits like this that they don’t even bother playing at 90% of the time. It’s wild. Heck, I’m a U2 fan. And I forget about this song sometimes. But it is so good. I would imagine the fact that it’s associated with a horrendous movie hurt a little bit. But the song is incredible.

AMAZING SONG AND PERFORMANCE! Heath Ledger Joker's voice at the opening was great! And like someone else already said here before, this song's about the highs and lows of celebrity, how high a star can get and how deep can fall and maybe some other characteristics of humanity aswell like, fanatism, the darkness within and stuff...that's was surely what Bono was thinking about when he wrote it i guess
@rudydembinski91459 жыл бұрын
um, that isn't Heath Ledger's voice in the beginning. Not in the film, nor does it sound anything like him. Its clearly Bono's voice if you listen to him saying the exact thing at the end. Not trying to split hairs here but hey, get it right, for posterity.
@rudydembinski91459 жыл бұрын
Also, im pretty sure Bono is lip-syncing to a pre-existing rerecording of his vocals to this song which is kinda lame but im assuming is in place whenever he feels his natural voice would not suffice. A common occurance for vocalists who have done as much endless touring for 30 years as U2 have pretty much done.
