Mel was so incredibly brave. By the time the girls were interviewed here, Mel had been told that her cancer was terminal but she was so determined to overcome it. Poor Kim, to loose her best friend and sister at such a young age was so very sad. Mel and Kim were wonderful. They were fun, had some great songs and were two lovely, warm, genuine girls from Hackney. RIP Mel❤️

I was a huge fan of Mel & Kim and I remember watching this interview, I was 13 years old at the time, I was devastated by Mel's diagnosis. I still listen to their music today, I'm 48 years old.

I'm so glad you found this interview...I was 16 when it was broadcast and I remember this so clearly...I guess that this was my first real appreciation of cancer. Ahh this is uplifting in one way and so sad in another way. She was trying to be positive but bless her the eyes tell a different story. Her poor sister must of been braking her heart inside but she was staunch and with her all the way to the end. They had only just hit the big time life was very cruel to them . I was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukaemia (ALL) and Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) in six months after mel and went in remission with leukaemia two months later after mel death.
