Her acting really sells this medley. Doing a good job of deliberately bad acting s a very hard skill, but oh man, the way her face goes when she sings "Jamie is gone" and then the little head look to the side. I was fucking dying already.
@ItsAsparageese4 жыл бұрын
This is ridiculously brilliant and so well executed indeed. And yeah, people underestimate how hard it is to do good "bad" acting or singing

i love how judgey theater is- like don't sing these at auditions cuz they're overdone... cuz they're popular... cuz they show off your range... sing some other secret song... that shows off your skills... that NO ONE ELSE has heard of either... but make sure it's catchy... and popular...preferably something the pianist has played before ffs
@junobrosas6 жыл бұрын
Oliver The Chinchilla haha... "No One Else"... from Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812. I see what you did there.
@volatilemolotov6676 жыл бұрын
rlly tho. i went into an audition once and handed the accompanist a song he’d never played before because it was “too obscure” (IT WAS A CHANGE IN ME FROM BEAUTY IN THE BEAST) and he asked me to do my contemporary rock song which was sign of the times by harry styles. it was an audition for the last five years.
@kenzij6 жыл бұрын
Oliver The Chinchilla I don't relate to this from a theater standpoint (I can't hold a note for more than a millisecond, theater was never in the cards), but it speaks to me anyways. 👍🏽

Lol wtf, they need a new accompanist

I think the goal is to not do something that will compare you to every other person doing it. (The "do not sing lists" are getting a bit too long, but the general idea is that you want something "less done", especially as the field keeps being flooded by college grads who have all taken rep classes and have rep coaches.) I think of it like showing up in a little black dress. Unless the dress fits you SO well that it makes people stop and stare, I think you're better off with something a little more adventurous. I've heard tales of people in casting remembering people as "red earrings" before. I think at the -community- level these lists are a bit useless. If there's only 12 people auditioning for the role, you probably don't need to stick out like you would at a cattle call.

Finally got around to putting together all the lyrics, so if anyone else wants them: (Still Hurting - The Last Five Years) Jamie is over and Jamie is gone Jamie's decided it's time to move on Jamie has new dreams he's building upon (On My Own - Les Mis) And I know it's only in my mind That I'm talking to myself and not to him And although I know that he is blind Still I say, there's a way for us (Somewhere That's Green - Little Shop of Horrors) Far from Skid Row I dream we'll go somewhere that's (The Wizard and I - Wicked) Unlimited My future is unlimited And I've just had a vision Almost like a prophecy I know - it sounds truly crazy And true, the vision's hazy But I swear, someday there'll be A celebration throughout Oz That's all to do with me! And I'll stand there with the Wizard Feeling (Astonishing - Little Women) Astonishing Astonishing I'll find my way I'll find it far away I'll find it in unexpected and unknown I'll find my life in my own way Today Here I go And there's no turning back My great adventure has begun I may be small But I've got giant plans To shine as brightly as the sun (Don't Rain on My Parade - Funny Girl) Don't bring around a cloud to rain on my parade I'm gonna live and live now Get what I want, I know how One roll for the whole she-bang One throw, that bell will go clang Eye on the target and wham One shot, one gun shot, and bam Hey, Mister Arnstein, here I am (Defying Gravity - Wicked) So if you care to find me Look to the western sky! As someone told me lately: "Everyone deserves the chance to fly!” (Gimme Gimme - Thoroughly Modern Millie) dove! Sing, sparrow! Gimme fat boy's famous arrow Gimme, gimme that thing called love! (And the last note is from Defying Gravity)

@@fatherterry1017 I mean, if you're a girl, there's "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again," and if you're a guy, there's "Music of the Night." They're both good for showing range and emotion (and also wildly popular, which means producers won't want to hear them so the point is moot).
