The first time I listened to it I didn't really know what to think, but the more I listen to it the more I love it. I think the production is very interesting and unexpected, and those agonized screamy "DEEEEATH!" background vocals have really grown on me as well. I like how it overall has a new style for Mel, but the second verse keeps some elements of her older style. So, the idea here is that Crybaby's physical human body has died and Crybaby's immortal soul is being reincarnated as the Faerie (?) being we see in the artwork. I'm excited to see where the storyline goes from there, and I really like how the album starts with "Death" and ends with "Womb". I'm really hoping, after hearing the end of "Death", that the whole album is going to be continuous like that. I think it would give it a nice cinematic film. And, yes, of course I want to see you react to the whole album! There isn't a single KZbinr out there I'd want to see react to it more.

So what I found really interesting about the beginning part of the song is when she first starts calling out death, it's higher like she's crying like a baby. And I found that really interesting because the last two times that she calls out death repeatedly it's in those agonizing screams

sorry for the long text :/ nice how you showed your honest opinion about the song and not tried to force it to please the public. to me, it was quite the same, it's a easy song to listen to, the production is fire and the lyrics are good but at first listen... I dont know. but the more I listen to (not trying to force it, but I knew it'd grow on me) the more I like it. i like this gonna be very different from what we're used to from her. she showing that she can innovate unlike some say about her. her sound will change now and probably some of her fans will dislike it but that's fine, she's evolving as an artist and exploring new areas, what she thinks is good and comfortable at the moment. we can still appreciate her other works. i've been on this journey with her since 2016. about the song, i dont if you've read something about what she's gonna bring as a theme for the album, but she said that Cry Baby literally died but will reincarnate in a spiritual way, in a new body, she'll evolve mentally, fiscally and spiritually, as the album show that pink creature. the single cover, she appears on the floor, dead, and the creature floating, "coming out" of her.

Same, as much as I use to love it. It really was lackluster instrumental wise so it didn’t age well for me. Prob because it was only 1 producer working on the whole project. This project has 4 who has all worked with her in past projects including the k-12 producer.
