MELANIE SAFKA live '71

I came across this clip recently but sadly it had no audio so I tried reading Melanie's lips but to no avail, I couldn't figure out what it was. So I rang my friend reynardinerob and asked him to have a look and lo and behold he cracked it and so I was able to dub it with some sounds! Anyway, although it's an incomplete version of James Taylor's 'Carolina In My Mind' from the Montreux, Switzerland concert from 1971, it's still a thing of beauty imho.

What a beautiful voice.. She has and amazing vibrato with a husky trill. She made this song her own. She just sings it with great emotion. The audience is just transfixed on her. And you can see the silence and they're enjoyment and listening to every word. And it's so simple and organic sitting on a small chair on a stage by yourself in front of a large crowd. I looked up her bio and she was the first non-classical musician to play at Carnegie Hall. She also was the first woman musician to start her own record label, Neighborhood Records!. And she's played all over the world and some of the biggest menus. Paris, Stockholm, all over Europe and America, Sydney Opera House, Royal Albert Hall, South Korean DMZ, Glastonbury music festival, and Woodstock to name a few.. I came across this video and really didn't know a whole lot about her. But man what an amazing career she's had. Thank you to whoever made this video and the work you had to do to bring this to life. I think it's a treasure and I love it.
