Thank you so much. I have learned so much from watching all these lectures. Great help. Really appreciate. Now I am more confident when I am looking at melanocytic lesion.

Today our pathologists recommended PRAME to differentiate melanoma. Is it useful marker?
@JMGardnerMD2 жыл бұрын
Yes I like it a lot. It’s not perfect but can be very helpful in select cases. I had no experience with it at the time I made this video which is why I didn’t include it.

Dr jerad: why does "melanoma in situ" not appear in the histological classification of melanoma? It seems to me that it is a term that is not widely accepted because it does not meet defined criteria, does it?
@JMGardnerMD Жыл бұрын
It’s not a histologic subtype. It’s more like a stage. It just means melanoma that is confined to the epidermis and hasn’t invaded.

Thank you. It’s a very nice lecture. I learn a lot from your videos. I have a question. In case of margin assessment for melanoma in situ, can PRAME be a better way of assessing than other markers?
@JMGardnerMD3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t tried that but I think it would be difficult to use in that way. I see PRAME stain background melanocytes sometimes especially in sun damaged skin so that would Make it hard to use for margins I think.

I honestly can't thank you enough for what I've learned from your videos. You have demystified many concepts in dermpath for me. Greatly appreciated.
